Appleās market share in China started climbing before China Mobile deal
While smartphone growth is slowing in China, Apple managed to increase its market share from 6 to 7 percent in the final quarter of 2013, even before the China Mobile deal was struck. IDC figures reported by the WSJ show that Apple is now the fifth largest smartphone seller in the country, behind Samsung, Lenovo, Coolpad and Huawei. Xiaomi sits just behind Apple at 6 percent.

Denise Young Smith To Run Apple Human Resources, Podolny Full-Time Apple University
According to a report from Bloomberg, Apple has promoted its Vice President of Global Retail Stores Denise Young Smith to a new position as head of human resources for all of Apple. Smith previously lead HR for retail and replaces the old head of human resources, Joel Podolny, who Apple says will now āfocus full-time on Apple University.ā Interestingly, in Appleās statement it noted that āApple University is an increasingly important resourceā and that Podolny will focus āfull-time on developing and scaling the University.ā

Apple Loses Key iPad, Mac Operations VP
Rita Lane, Appleās vice president of operations for the iPad, Mac desktops, and Mac accessories, has retired from the company, according to her publicĀ LinkedIn profile. As vice president of operations, Lane was in charge of the supply chain and manufacturing for iPads, computers like the iMac, and Appleās Mac accessories.

Tim Cook Talks Google, iPhone & More In WSJ Interview
"The Wall Street Journal has now published the full interview with Appleās CEO.
The interview repeats many of the comments Cook has made to investors in the past, reaffirming that new product categories under development, but does contain some new, interesting tidbits. For instance, Wakabayashi asked Cook about Googleās disposal of Motorola. Cook says he āwasnāt surprisedā that Google sold it off, saying that software and hardware integration is what makes Apple unique as a company."

First Turkish Apple Store To Open In Istanbul
"A Turkish government website reporting on Tim Cookās meeting with President Abdullah GĆ¼l says that the countryās first Apple Store will open in Istanbul in April. Istanbul, which uniquely straddles Europe and Asia, is one of the largest cities in the world by population with over 14 million residents. In addition to a rumored $4 billion plan to put iPads into Turkish schools, it was said that the two discussed the amount of sales taxes levied on iPhones and iPads and when Apple might include Turkish in the languages supported by Siri with at least some suggesting that the two issues might be linked."
