The 18-oz Grass-fed Veal Chop ($49.50) at @savio_volpe came when we started to feel full. But it still managed to impress the heck of us. What an eye opening experience at Canada’s very first boutique pod hotel, @pangeapod in Whistler. This ain’t the cheap capsule hotel in Tokyo. With many clever designs and friendly features, I quite enjoyed the fun and the comfort, and most importantly, a good night of sleep after the #AraxiLongtable dinner and an awesome night out in #WhistlerVillage. Another amazing year for the Long Table Dinner at @northarmfarm by @araxirestaurant and sister restaurants: @ilcaminettowhis, @baroso_whistler, and #thecellarbyaraxi in Whistler. We had such fabulous food, wine, and company, with a backdrop of breathtaking mountains and nature. This is definitely one of the best foodie highlights of my summer. “French Laundry” dinner by @blackmarketsc ▶️ Black Truffle Custard ▶️ Charcoal Gougeres ▶️ Lobster Pancakes (carrot brown butter sauce) ▶️ “Yabba DABBA Do” (wagyu, bone marrow potato, braised short rib) ▶️ Chocolate Veloute - They nailed the French flavours, especially on the 2 main savoury dishes. The lobster was perfect cooked, complemented well by delicate French crepe and a beautiful carrot brown butter sauce. The meat dish showed some brilliance of constructing and deconstructing classic preparations. What a treat! . . I once followed in the The French Laundry Cookbook. “Unaju” - there is so much unagi kabayaki that it completely covers the rice. At this #MichelinOneStar unagi specialty restaurant, 5th generation chef-owner Kanejiro keeps the family traditional craft going with incredible dedication . Also included in the set, the hallmark dish, the Shirayaki, steamed unagi with its excess fat reduced, as well unagi terrine and unagi liver pate as the appetizer dish. Hands down the best unagi that I have ever had. They also allow small party of walk-in customers if you arrive right at their opening time. But it’s better to book in a week’s advance.
