Just dropping a note here to say that I still exist and still am working on the thing(s) in my spare time! Actually, I’ve been working on them pretty consistently for the past month, and I’ve made a ton of progress. More details to come in the vague future…….

To put an actual number to it, I’ve spent 42 hours working on this project this month. That includes more than just The Punishment - I am also writing another (related) thing that is taking some time. Together I think they’ll make a nice story. I hope you’ll enjoy both of them when they’re done!

1000% extremely nervous hover-parent, worried when child learns to crawl, terrified when they learn to walk, carries child everywhere at all times. Likes to lay on the floor with child and play and talk to them. Doesn’t use baby talk. Lots of hugs and kisses, terrible at providing discipline and easy to manipulate. Will do anything to make child laugh, including: making silly faces for them, pretending to lose at play-wrestling with them, using them as a puppet until (and after) they can actually talk. So, can we get any dates on the chapter updates/uploads of new chapters? Or have I simply been blind, and missed them?

I’m sorry, I can’t make any promises about when I’ll update next. I’m now a Ph.D. student working full-time in an academic research lab and that takes up most of my time and energy. For me, writing is a hobby that I try to fit in between all of that real life stuff. All I can say for sure is that it will be continued, eventually, and that progress is being made!

I am still working on this thing and having fun with it! It’s slow going, but there is finally tangible progress. A new chapter is still a ways out, though. Right now I’m making some minor revisions to the earlier chapters (so if you want to reread, please hold off for a bit!). I’m taking my time and doing with the story what I’ve wanted to for a while but never had the time/energy for. I think the final version will be better for it.

I’m especially excited to get to write the next 6 chapters. Did I mention that before? There are 6 chapters left in The Punishment! They are mostly all outlined and ready to be written!

I actually just finished reading The Punishment before you said not to, haha. It was fantastic. I only stopped reading once because I fell asleep. And as soon as I woke up I started reading again.

On that note, I would very much appreciate it if anyone interested in rereading The Punishment might hold off until I do those edits I was talking about. I will post the updated versions of the older chapters before I start posting any new chapters.

Here is some tangible proof that I am still alive, and I am still working on things! These are my Scrivener files for The Punishment and for another story I am writing. All of those little folders have a lot of stuff in them.

For The Punishment, I am combining a few chapters so that the story flows a little better. With those adjustments, the last chapter I posted was Part 15. There will be 21 chapters.  I have the final 6 chapters all plotted out--now all that's left is to write them.

The other story is still a secret, but I hope people like it when I post it. Chell isn't in it. I'm sorry. I've finished the first three chapters of that, but I am going to wait until I'm done writing it to begin posting it . I've learned my lesson about deadlines.

I'm writing a Portal fanfiction that I'm really proud of, and I want to spread the word about it and maybe get it almost as well known as good fics like this and Blue Sky and Redemption. The thing is that it's pretty unusual as Portal fanfics go, which could either work in its favor or against it. How would I go about getting people to read it?

I'm glad you're writing something that you're proud of, that's awesome! I'm afraid I don't have very good tips for getting the word out about your work, though. I was lucky enough to start writing mine at a time when there were a lot of people concentrated in one place, so people read it, but that's not really the case anymore.

I would suggest that you come up with an intriguing (but not spoilery) synopsis of the story and include that if/when you post it on Tumblr, so people will know generally what it's about and whether they want to check it out. Art is always really eye-catching to include, if you can, or graphics with the title/chapter titles. Post it in all the relevant tags you can fit (a post only shows up in the first five tags you use) and also try posting on AO3 or FFnet to reach other audiences.

Sorry I don't have too much good advice for you, but good luck with your story!!

How much of the next chapter is completed? I really love your story I really love the characters, they behave just like in the game. It is completely credible hiw Wheatly suddenly noticed that his new emotoins fell in love with Chell. You are awesome

I'm happy to say that after a very long (and much-needed) break, I am working on the story again! Due to school and work obligations, I can't say how long it might be until I can post an update, but progress is being made.
