Itâll be okay. Even if thereâs more violence in the future. People will fight and orate and persuade and itâll be okay. Even if things look grim and dark and terrible. We are here and we love each other and weâll make sure itâs okay. Please stay alive. Please vote. I love you. Itâll be okay.
Trans men, you have the right to be "scary": to be intimidating, imposing, loud, and angry. It is not a crime or a sin to be any of these things. It does not make you an inherently unsafe or predatory person. You did not lose your right to be loud and angry upon transitioning. People who argue that you must be ok with others treating you as inherently dangerous, are transphobes, pure and simple.
Trans men of color, especially, you are allowed to be any and all of these things. People who insist you must be demure and polite, to not frighten people, are racist and transphobic.
People in general are allowed to be "scary". People are allowed to exist and be interpreted by others as intimidating or imposing. Being interpreted this way does not mean you should lose your right to be speak loudly and angrily. Being interpreted this way does not mean you are a danger to women or to other people in general.
The assumptions that people choose to make about you based on your appearance are just that - assumptions. They are prejudice, and biased. The idea that you must make yourself presentable and civil is white supremacist, hegemonic bullshit. Anyone who touts this idea or it's derivatives is upholding hegemonic values.
You are allowed to just be, no matter how others view you.
To any trans man who needs to hear this: When they say they âhate all menâ or want to âkill all men,â you donât have to just accept that. Itâs okay to feel hurt, itâs okay to feel unsafe. Itâs okay to recognize that they are either othering your manhood or demonizing you for it, and to call them out for it if youâre in a position to. If they have trauma around men, they can work on that in private instead of expressing harmful sentiments around their marginalized male friends. You deserve love and safety. I love you and I hope I can help you feel safe.

A surgeon who carried out the UKâs first womb transplant on a cisgender woman has said similar transplants for transgender women are probably about 10 to 20 years away.
In February, Imperial College London professor, James Smith, and his colleague, Isabel Quiroga, from the Oxford Transplant Centre, carried out the womb transplant on a married woman whose 40-year-old sister was willing to donate her own, having already given birth to two children.
The 34-year-old recipient, who lives in England and wishes not to be named, received the transplant during an operation lasting more than nine hours at the Churchill Hospital, in Oxford.
It is hoped that, in the future, womb transplants can be performed on trans women, giving them the chance to have a baby, but Smith said the reality of this is still decades away.

Uterine transplants are currently rare, costly and experimental surgeries that typically rely on donor organs. They are often done on people born without a uterus so they can become pregnant and give birth.
The first successful womb transplant took place at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden in 2014. Two years later, the operation was carried successfully once more in the US.
About 50 babies have now been born worldwide as a result of womb transplants.
Kaushik, who has 15 years of experience in gender-affirming surgeries, said: âWe cannot predict exactly when this will happen but it will happen soon. We have our plans and we are very optimistic.â

First patient in UK gets dose of jab designed to kill most common form of lung cancer â and stop it coming back
"Doctors have begun trialling the worldâs first mRNA lung cancer vaccine in patients, as experts hailed its âgroundbreakingâ potential to save thousands of lives.
Lung cancer is the worldâs leading cause of cancer death, accounting for about 1.8m deaths every year. Survival rates in those with advanced forms of the disease, where tumours have spread, are particularly poor.
Now experts are testing a new jab that instructs the body to hunt down and kill cancer cells â then prevents them ever coming back. Known as BNT116 and made by BioNTech, the vaccine is designed to treat non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), the most common form of the disease.
The phase 1 clinical trial, the first human study of BNT116, has launched across 34 research sites in seven countries: the UK, US, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Spain and Turkey.
The UK has six sites, located in England and Wales, with the first UK patient to receive the vaccine having their initial dose on Tuesday [August 20, 2024].
Overall, about 130 patients â from early-stage before surgery or radiotherapy, to late-stage disease or recurrent cancer â will be enrolled to have the jab alongside immunotherapy. About 20 will be from the UK.
The jab uses messenger RNA (mRNA), similar to Covid-19 vaccines, and works by presenting the immune system with tumour markers from NSCLC to prime the body to fight cancer cells expressing these markers.
The aim is to strengthen a personâs immune response to cancer while leaving healthy cells untouched, unlike chemotherapy.
âWe are now entering this very exciting new era of mRNA-based immunotherapy clinical trials to investigate the treatment of lung cancer,â said Prof Siow Ming Lee, a consultant medical oncologist at University College London hospitals NHS foundation trust (UCLH), which is leading the trial in the UK.
âItâs simple to deliver, and you can select specific antigens in the cancer cell, and then you target them. This technology is the next big phase of cancer treatment.â
Janusz Racz, 67, from London, was the first person to have the vaccine in the UK. He was diagnosed in May and soon after started chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
The scientist, who specialises in AI, said his profession inspired him to take part in the trial. âI am a scientist too, and I understand that the progress of science â especially in medicine â lies in people agreeing to be involved in such investigations,â he said...
âAnd also, I can be a part of the team that can provide proof of concept for this new methodology, and the faster it would be implemented across the world, more people will be saved.â
Racz received six consecutive injections five minutes apart over 30 minutes at the National Institute for Health Research UCLH Clinical Research Facility on Tuesday.
Each jab contained different RNA strands. He will get the vaccine every week for six consecutive weeks, and then every three weeks for 54 weeks.
Lee said: âWe hope adding this additional treatment will stop the cancer coming back because a lot of time for lung cancer patients, even after surgery and radiation, it does come back.â ...
âWe hope to go on to phase 2, phase 3, and then hope it becomes standard of care worldwide and saves lots of lung cancer patients.â
The Guardian revealed in May that thousands of patients in England were to be fast-tracked into groundbreaking trials of cancer vaccines in a revolutionary world-first NHS âmatchmakingâ scheme to save lives.
Under the scheme, patients who meet the eligibility criteria will gain access to clinical trials for the vaccines that experts say represent a new dawn in cancer treatment."
