canon that paladin/knight mike is incredibly pale because he's always covered in armor and hes insecure about it along with his scars from battle but hes too busy protecting will to allow himself to dwell on it. will, when he and mike have peaceful moments where they are vulnerable, pushes mike to talk about his insecurities and it makes him feel better to feel his feelings (after he got over the fear of being vulnerable or "weak")
