I was trying out different art apps on my new Galaxy S6 Lite (which I will be returning in place of a dedicated artist grade laptop). I think I already had the sketch done and I inked and colored this using the HiPaint app on Android. It came out so nice 😊

So I couldn’t help but think - especially at the end of this ep - that Filoni might just be shipping his own fan OCs. Who? Not really sure. Like, what are the symbolic character dynamics even supposed to be here? Is Hera and Ahsoka, like, Sabine’s worried moms? Is it more like Hera is Sabine’s (symbolic) mom and Ahsoka is the (symbolic) aunt?

I’ve always read Hera as Sabine’s older sister because, on Rebels, their age gap did not seem wide enough for them to “traditionally” be a mother daughter pair. I mean, fuck hetero-normative age traditions in family relationships and all that, but, you know, just saying…

I did wonder why between S2 and 3 of Rebels certain Sabine/Ahsoka fics started popping up on AO3. I don't personally believe that ship was appropriate for that point in the series, so I ignored the tag. Like, I read Sabine as late teens by then. And based on how old Ahsoka was during most of TCW and by the time she appears in S2 of Rebels, I thought she was supposed to be in her early 40s (or whatever the human equivalent of that is for a Togruta lol). Major edit (from this original 2023 post) and a few spoilers under the cut.

But then, we got an epilogue at the end of Rebels where Hera was flying The Ghost with (presumably) her and Kanan's son. He seemed to be a couple years old, so I assume a couple of years have passed. When the scene switches to Sabine at her mural, she looks somewhat older, so I assume she's about 19 or 20 here. Then, in the Ahsoka show, I feel like you can assume once again that several years have passed because of Hera/Kanan's kid. I take it Sabine is maybe 24 or so here. Maybe a bit older. Not sure.

I've always personally found ages in fiction incredibly obtuse and hard to decipher without canon being explicit about it. Anyway, that was a little rambling fest that was only me considering the age appropriateness of the Sabine/Ahsoka pairing. By the time of the live action show, I think the ship is fine. Rebels doesn't seem right, though.

Hmmmmmmm… I wonder if this is an excerpt from a Zahn novel. I’m scrubbing through his Thrawn novels and he would drop some lovely implied homo-romantic nuggets like this. Then again, I’ve read similar things in other non-SW novels so there’s that.

Also, I’ve always casually shipped Senator Bail with Obi Wan ever since I first saw the prequels. Personally, I think they’re really easy to pair. Feels more natural. Even more so after the Obi-Wan show.

Been dying to join some kind of community like this. A few weeks ago, I saw a Let’s Play of Zelda: Wand of Gamelon and Link: Faces of Evil, back to back. The games are somewhat obtuse about direction, so seeing a first time player bumble their way through was a hilarious treat.

I, myself, have never played either game and never wished to because of the strange animations and negative cult status. Turns out, both titles are fun as hell (from a watcher’s perspective, anyway). I wouldn’t mind playing them myself on an emulator tbh.

The animations remind me of ScummVM games somewhat. I do have a little theory that the developers may have worked in the cartoon animation industry before working on these games, but I’m not certain on that at all.

As for the console…? The streamer’s chat had a really interesting discussion about what the hell this console was ‘supposed’ to be and what it wasn’t. I’d say this rando really summed it up best:
