I am an avid knitter, who teaches in her spare time. I troll the internet for the definitive knitting bag, which must be out there somewhere. I love books, especially when I hear they are good 'yarns'! I have a minor yarn stash, in that it is all containable in one room. I am a dog lover with Irish Wolfhounds being my idea of perfection. If only I could find a way to spin pet hair into yarn, I would be a rich woman. Fancy finding me here!

After being absent for months and months, I am back!  My resolve is that I will write a couple of times a week, with photographs to accompany each entry.  I have been sidetracked with learning how to crochet and, in typical fashion, went mad at it.  Most of my work was taken to Texas for my in-laws and friends there.  The pictures show a selection of the things that I made.  I am now back to knitting, having sickened myself of crochet!  Especially, I am enchanted with Julie Williams' 'Little Cotton Rabbits'.  I am making them to raise money for MIND, the mental health charity - which is a cause close to my heart (and mind!).

Eeyore's body

I haven't yet mastered how to upload more than 1 photo at a time.  So here is half of the top part of Eeyore's body.  It made no sense in the knitting up, but laid out seems to be sort of reasonable.  Update tomorrow.

Eeyore?

So I have been making an Eeyore for a baby gift.  The pattern is weird, weird, weird.  It is an act of faith, making all the little bits and hoping that they turn out.  The head is made up of 10 pieces and looks fine now it's made.

Finished projects

So the past few days have been busy with finishing a couple of projects.  I finished a boy hippo - at the moment, all I seem to want to do is pinky, pale lemon, girly things.

I also made the cutest little mouse, from a Mary Jane's Tearoom pattern.  Once she was knitted up, I decided she was just too cute to sell, so I joined her paws and gave her a little pincushion to hold, so that she is useful as well as decorative.

I have started another Mary Jane pattern - a lop eared bunny - and also a little Eeyore toy for a baby shower.  So, plenty of variety, and lots of fun!

Completed toys

I have finished 2 toys since I last wrote and am very happy with them.  The pink hippo underwent a transformation - I didn't like the white and pale pink sweater I had made, so I did another in hot pink and white and -ta da - she looked great.

The second toy is for my great neice who is due to arrive at the end of May, so the fairy will be shipped off the the US this week.  It took 4 different styles of ears before finding the ones that suited her.

The photos aren't great but - I transferred them from my phone to my computer ALL BY MYSELF!!  A truly great feat!

Lazy Sunday

Dogs really just don't get the concept.  Thankyou, Bodhi, for making sure I am up by 6.30 and don't waste my time having  a lie-in when I could be catering to your every need (all vociforously expressed).  Less sleep = more knitting time, so it's not all bad.

Self discipline

I have been very disciplined today, and have been working on a project I started just before getting the new batch of yarn.  I have, however, sorted the new yarn, fondled it lovingly, arranged it by colour and sniffed it.  I have to report that the sniffing was rather unsatisfying- not at all like a new book, which demands that you hold your nose in it, inhaling deeply, until your embarrassed family members remind you that you are in full public view in Waterstone's and not in the privace of your own home.

Talking on new books...the first of the Game of Thrones book was handed to me yesterday. I have only read a dozen or so pages, but it is gripping.  How gripping?  I am seriously considering not knitting tomorrow morning, but having a lazy Saturday morning in bed, reading.  Now that's frightening!!

Oooh new yarn

Hobbycraft. Nirvana. 3 for 2 sale. "Saved" £24. Spent £56. Big bag of beautiful new, soft yarn.  Needed something to kickstart the creative juices, and now I feel frustrated that I will have to sleep and won't be able to dive in until tomorrow.

Deer in the headlights

I am feeling like a deer caught in the headlights of technology.  I could not work out how to post on Tumblr yesterday evening, and got into a real strop over it.  So, one new thing learned as I am able to post this!

A week ago I got a new Blackberry.  It took me 5 days to remember how to answer incoming calls: My patented method was to push any random buttons saying"hello" as I was doing it, until someone answered.  I have now mastered that.

I now know how to use the camera - I inadvertantly pressed a button which took a photo so I thought - call me innovative and creative - I should look in the instruction booklet.

So: Able to get into tumblr; able to answer my phone; able to use the camera.  Next step is being able to put photos on this blog.  Bear with me.

This is all so confusing, but exciting!

I am new at all of this technology stuff. I am a knitter. As far as technology is concerned, well, I have people who do that for me. I hope I am doing everything right. There is a bit of a learning curve. If anyone has any suggestions how to do things, please feel free to let me know. I hope you visit PigglesBoo, which is my ETSY shop.
