Uh oh I found a new thing I love to paint
It may not be pretty, but it's emotional
More roadkill paintings!
Another! *mug smash*
Can't stop won't stop
The last partially mummified skull in the yard: done!
But wait! There's more!
I'm incapable of stopping

Ribcage snow
Just your usual Easter holiday activity
This bear's ears were eaten off. Less cute now
Here's a way to honor the carcasses you can't take home.
bicephalic (two-headed) Song Thrush
Look at this weird cougar with giant eye sockets
Regular calf and hUge calf
Cat, Catter, Cattest.
Three large domestic cats, one stray and two Maine Coons (the longest measures 12.6 cm).
Armadillo skull with its armor
Three male coyote skulls at varying ages. First one was only a few days old, second was about 5-6 months old, and the third is about a year and a half old.
Don't trust collectors who say that nasal turbinates don't matter.
The inside of an animal’s nasal cavity tells us lots of information about the environment it lived in and the family it belongs to. Aggressive treatments such as boiling damage them: anyone who uses those methods to “clean” bones is not a true enthusiast.
In the photo: harp seal, wolverine, striped hyena, cheetah.

The moss likes what it likes
Holy moly! How do you clean gravewax off in such large quantities?
I use a mixture of wax carving tools, tweezers, and 'dental' tools. They're very handy for scraping without damaging the bone and picking wax out of little nooks. It also helps to scrub them with a tooth brush and dawn under warm/hot water afterwards. Just be careful that nothing goes down the drain.
Here are the links to the tools/type I use:
Wax Carving Tools
Tweezer Set
Dental Tools
I've had these all in my kit for the longest time, I use them for a bunch of different stuff. My favorite tool is the spatula in the wax carving tool kit, I use it for braining skulls.
Neat skull I found today. 99% sure it’s domestic cat given the tooth behind the canine. Very fragile, needs paraloid b72.
