Summary: MC has gone missing!
Two weeks had passed since she had gone missing. Two very long, very stressful weeks. Jumin Han was a mess. His wife, MC, had just disappeared from their penthouse home one day, and Jumin was driving himself mad with worry. He couldn’t eat, could barely sleep. Every single time he fell into an exhausted, fitful slumber he would wake up screaming, nightmares of MC hurt or dead fresh in his mind.
Saeyoung had been relentlessly searching for MC ever since Jumin had discovered she had gone missing, and Jumin had thrown all his money and resources behind him. But even with Jumin’s backing, Saeyoung hadn’t been able to find a trace of MC’s whereabouts. Until now.
When Jumin got the call from Saeyoung stating that he had finally been able to trace MC’s location, he ordered Driver Kim to take him to Saeyoung’s bunker, despite the fact that it was already 4 in the morning. Saeyoung was waiting for him at the door, ushering him inside then locking the door behind them.
“You look like hell.” Saeyoung observed, sparing a quick glance at the businessman. Jumin’s raven hair was disheveled and unkempt, there were dark circles under his steel grey eyes, and his clothing looked slept in and full of wrinkles.
“Yes, well, you would as well if your wife had gone missing and you had no idea where she went or if she was well and unhurt.”
His voice was tired and strained, and he followed Saeyoung into his large computer room, standing behind the red haired man as he sat at one of many laptops, typing furiously on the keyboard. He turned as one of the big monitors in the room flickered on, pulling up an image on CCTV. Jumin’s heart leapt into his throat as he stared at the screen, walking towards it and placing a shaking hand on the image.
It was MC. She was laying upon a small, shabby, single person bed, her hands tied above her head to the bedpost. She was asleep, shivering and blindfolded, her clothing ripped and torn and bloodstained. Her long, auburn hair was an unkempt, tangled mess upon her head. Her shorts were so ripped and torn that they were barely a scrap covering her, and her shirt was riding up over her torso, revealing fresh wounds scattered across her stomach and arms and legs. Her mouth moved, forming a single word, and although there was no sound coming from the monitor, Jumin could easily tell what she said. He had only watched her multiple times in the past as she said it, the word usually dripping with love and affection.
His fist clenched, and he turned to Saeyoung, tears stinging the back of his eyes. She was calling for him, and he was stuck here, with no idea where she was or how to save her.
“Where is she?” He asked, his voice hoarse with the effort of holding back his emotions lest he have a break down. “Saeyoung, she’s calling for me! I need to go to her, now!”
Spotting a flurry of movement out of the corner of his eye, he whirled back to the screen, watching in horror as a tall, unfamiliar man entered the room. Jumin couldn’t tell anything about him other than the fact that his hair was bleached white and he had a wide, sadistic grin on his face. Saeyoung hurriedly flicked on the sound as the man untied MC from the headboard, dragging her off the bed and onto the floor.
When the man spoke, it sent shivers of terror down Jumin’s spine.
“You….The other members of the RFA. You have no right to be happy. Not in the outside world. Join us, join me, here in Paradise. Let my Savior free you of your sins….”
The man popped open a small bottle, shaking a few pills out into his hand and trying to feed them to MC, who whimpered and turned her head away. When the man became more insistent, attempting to grip her chin and force her mouth open, she bit him. Jumin felt a swell of pride that quickly turned to terror when the man yelled, dropping the pills he held, grabbing the hand briefly before using it to deliver a harsh backhand blow to her cheek, snapping her head to the side, blood trickling slowly out of the corner of her mouth. The man reached for a whip held at his side, unraveling it as Saeyoung turned his face away from the screen, looking shaken, his face pale. Jumin felt sick as he watched the whip lash out, striking MC on the cheek, leaving a long, red gash. She screamed, and the lash whipped out again and again until her screams were just one long, loud, wordless, pain filled sound.
Jumin clamped a hand over his mouth, his other hand clutching at his stomach, running into the nearest restroom and retching. He wiped at his mouth shakily when he was done, walking back out in time to see the man putting the pills into his own mouth, grabbing MC roughly by the chin, forcing her lips open and sealing his mouth over hers, forcing her to swallow the pills.
Jumin vision was blurred with rage, his hands clenched tightly, his entire body trembling with suppressed anger. Once he rescued his wife, he would kill this man himself. He watched as the strange man pulled away, wiping his mouth, walking out of the room and closing the door behind him. Jumin heard the faint click as the man locked the door behind him, and he focused his attention back on MC, who was now curled up in a corner trembling, tears leaking from underneath her blindfold, leaving streaks on her dirty cheeks.
“J-Jumin….” She whimpered softly as she rested her head on her knees. She was starting to droop; the pills that man had forced her to swallow were starting to take effect. “Jumin…” His name was a breath of a whisper on her chapped lips as she slumped, her head hitting the hard floor when her body fell to the side, unconscious.
Her name was a strangled scream ripped from his throat, his hands pressed up against the monitor screen in his desperation to get to her. He turned to Saeyoung, shaking, metallic eyes flashing dangerously. “Find her!” He commanded, his voice low and hoarse.
Saeyoung’s fingers were already flying furiously across his keyboard, golden eyes squinting at the screen from behind his glasses. The view on the monitor switched from the CCTV view of MC’s unconscious form to an aerial view of what looked like a castle with a green roof, a giant logo of an eye emblazoned on the side of one of its outer walls. Jumin swallowed the lump of panic that was rising in his throat from being unable to see his wife. He was holding onto his sanity by a single, unraveling thread, and the fact that he knew she was alive was the only thing that kept the thread from fraying completely.
“I’ve got the coordinates!” Saeyoung’s tone was triumphant, and with a click of his mouse the view on the monitor zoomed out further, revealing the mountainous landscape surrounding the castle. “It’s about an hours drive from where we are now. Gather your security team. I’m coming with you to rescue MC. I can hack into and shut down their security systems so you can get in and out without being detected.”
Jumin nodded, pulling his phone out of his pocket, pausing before dialing the number for his chief of security. “Shouldn’t we have someone here monitoring MC?” He asked anxiously. “I need to know she’s still safe. I will be too anxious otherwise…” But Saeyoung was shaking his head.
“I’ll bring two laptops with me. I’ll keep the CCTV feed of MC up on one for you and I’ll use the other one.”
Jumin nodded, running a shaking hand through his hair as he called his security team, giving them the coordinates and orders for them to move out immediately.
The next hour was quite possibly the longest of Jumin’s life. He kept his eyes steady on the screen of Saeyoung’s laptop, carefully monitoring his wife’s condition as Driver Kim took them into the mountains. She was starting to stir slightly, and his heart ached, knowing that he wasn’t there yet to hold her and soothe her pain.
His heart hammered in his chest as they made their way slowly up a winding dirt road surrounded by trees, his fist clenching as the green roofed castle slowly came into view. Saeyoung was sitting next to him, typing furiously on his laptop, shutting down layer after layer of the building’s security system.
“I’ve shut down all alarms and security cameras. The only thing we need to do is watch out for any guards or people wandering around. We want to get in and out quickly and silently. The less time we spend here the less risk there is to MC.”
Jumin nodded as they gathered by the cars, prepping and arming themselves just in case. Jumin rolled up the sleeves of his button up shirt to just above his elbows and was given a small handgun and a holster. He strapped the holster to his thigh, gave the gun a quick once over, then nodded to his security team, signaling for them to move out. He and Saeyoung followed close behind them, Saeyoung pulling up a blueprint of the castle as the lead guard quietly pushed open the castle doors, taking care to make as little noise as possible.
The interior of the castle was a maze of long corridors, endless hallways and rooms, and Jumin was convinced they would have gotten easily lost had it not been for Saeyoung whispering directions from the back of the group. Jumin held the gun at eye level, finger resting lightly beside the trigger, following behind his security team as he and Saeyoung kept wary eyes behind them.
Saeyoung led them down corridor after corridor and up two flights of stairs before he finally hissed, “Here!”, pausing and pointing to a plain wooden door. The team looked at each other, communicating silently, the head guard motioning to Jumin. The raven haired man moved to stand in front of the door, his grip on his gun tightening as the guard grasped the doorknob, silently turning it and quickly pushing the door open.
Jumin rushed in, his gun leveled, quickly surveying the room, both relieved and annoyed that the unknown man from the CCTV feed wasn’t here. Jumin would have dearly liked to introduce the mans face to his fist. MC, still blindfolded, had given a little squeak of fear when she heard the door open, pushing herself as back against the wall as she could. Jumin quickly clicked the safety of his gun on, holstering it and rushing to his wife’s side, pulling her into his embrace, relief that he had finally found her rendering him unable to speak. MC went stiff in surprise, not realizing who held her until, after a moment, she recognized the scent of his cologne.
“J….Jumin…?” Her voice was a small, scared, yet hopeful whisper, and he nodded, his heart in his throat, tearing the blindfold off of her. She blinked, hazel eyes narrowed against the sudden flood of lights, then, when she was finally able to focus on his face, those same eyes filled with tears. “Jumin…!” She sobbed, tears streaming down her cheeks as he quickly untied her wrists.
“Shhhhh, darling.” He whispered, unable to resist sealing his mouth over hers in a quick kiss. “I’m going to get you out of here. Hold tight.” He swept her up into his arms, glancing over at his team hovering right outside the door. Saeyoung checked his blueprint once more, then pointed back down the way they came, indicating that to be the quickest way out.
“Keep as quiet as you can, love.” Jumin spoke softly into MC’s ear and she nodded, his grip around her tightening when her arms tightened around his neck, burying her face in his shoulder. He motioned to Saeyoung to take his gun and the red haired man nodded, pulling the gun from the holster on Jumin’s thigh, clicking the safety off and leveling it with his eyes. He motioned for the team to move forward, and they surrounded Jumin and MC, forming a protective circle around them as they moved. Jumin couldn’t keep his gaze from darting around the castle, terrified that the strange man would appear and try to take MC from him once more.
He breathed a sigh of relief once they exited, and he hurried to his car, where Driver Kim was already waiting to take them home. Saeyoung handed Jumin a blanket that he had brought, and Jumin immediately bundled his wife up, sliding into the backseat with her held firmly in his lap.
“That was almost too easy,” Saeyoung murmured uneasily, glancing behind them as they made their way down the dirt road once more. Jumin privately agreed with him, but at the moment, it was what he was least worried about. MC was exhausted. He could tell from the way her eyes drooped and the way her head lulled against his shoulder as she fought to stay awake. He gathered her closer, kissing her forehead gently.
The command was soft, his voice tender, and she nodded, settling in more comfortably against him, falling asleep almost immediately, her face pressed into the crook of his neck. Jumin couldn’t help the smile that spread across his lips. She was safe in his arms. He could feel the stress and worry of the last two weeks slipping away, leaving nothing but endless relief in its place. She slept the entire ride back home, and he and Saeyoung spoke quietly about the possibility of the unknown man returning. They agreed that Jumin would triple security around his penthouse, and Saeyoung would install cameras so that he could monitor the place via CCTV as well. While Jumin disliked the idea of Saeyoung being able to peep into the privacy of his home whenever he liked, especially now that he had MC back, her security was more important than anything. Saeyoung had agreed to limit his cameras to the main areas though, as Jumin flatly refused putting any in their bedroom or bathroom.
Jumin gently shook his wife awake when Driver Kim pulled up in front of their penthouse building, and she yawned, looking around blearily. “We’re home, darling.” He murmured, kissing her forehead. She nodded, and he gently removed her from his lap so he could climb out the car, turning to grasp her hand and help her clamber out after him. “Did you need me to carry you again?” He asked anxiously, hovering over her protectively. She just gave him a small smile and shook her head, slipping one of her small hands into his, pulling the blanket a little tighter around her shoulders. Jumin laced their fingers together, raising her hand to his lips and placing a soft kiss upon the back of it, then led her inside up to their home, glancing quickly behind him, waving to Saeyoung slightly as Driver Kim pulled away from the curb to take him home. He would return later to install the cameras.
Jumin would be forever grateful to Saeyoung for helping to rescue MC. He wasn’t sure he would have been able to hang onto any part of his sanity if he hadn’t found her.
Once they stepped into their home Jumin pulled her into his arms, unable to stop the tremors that ran through his body. MC wrapped her arms around his torso, tears pooling in her eyes once more. She was trembling as well. Jumin immediately pulled back, sweeping her up into his arms once more. “I’ve arranged for a doctor to come and visit.” He deposited her gently onto their bed, lightly touching her reddened cheek with his fingertips. The wound was still fresh, and by the way she winced when he touched her cheek, he could tell it still hurt her. He tucked her under the sheets, kissing her softly. “Please get some rest. The doctor will be here when you wake up.” He turned, but before he could leave, he felt her hand grab his wrist. He turned to face her again, his heart constricting when he saw the tears shimmering in her bright hazel eyes.
“Don’t leave!” Her voice was a terrified whisper, and he immediately laid down next to her, gathering her into his embrace.
“I will stay here as long as you like, my love.” She sniffed and, with a small hiccup, snuggled deeper into his arms, eyes closing as she slowly drifted off to sleep. Jumin couldn’t help but stare at his wife as she slept, fingers gently running through the tangled mess of hair on her head. He made a mental note to help bathe and comb her hair later. Now that she was finally home, he fully intended to spend as much time as possible pampering and spoiling her until he was satisfied.
He looked up when he heard a knock on the door. “Mr. Han?” It was one of the guards he had stationed at his front door, informing him that the doctor he had sent for had just arrived. Jumin gently detangled himself from his wife’s sleeping form and moved to greet the doctor, shaking the other mans hand.
“Forgive me, doctor, but she’s sleeping at the moment. Would you mind waiting until she wakes up…?” The doctor frowned, and Jumin explained what had happened right before he had found MC. The doctors forehead creased, a worried frown on his mouth.
“I see….” His voice was a murmur, glancing anxiously towards the bedroom where MC lay asleep. “I’m not sure I’ll be able to figure out what kind of drugs she was given, since they’ve most likely passed out of her system by now. But I will need to clean and bandage her wounds.” Both men glanced towards the door when there was another knock, this time announcing Saeyoung’s return. Jumin nodded to his guards to let him in, and Saeyoung walked in, carrying a large briefcase filled with parts for the security cameras he was going to install.
“How is MC?” He asked, his gaze on the doctor.
“Sleeping.” Jumin murmured quietly, glancing towards the bedroom anxiously. Saeyoung nodded and set down his briefcase, telling Jumin that he was going to install several around the living room and kitchen areas. Jumin nodded. As much as he wanted to, he couldn’t be by MC’s side 24/7. The fact that Saeyoung would be watching over her when he couldn’t gave him a small sense of relief.
He whirled when MC screamed his name, a definite note of panic in her voice, running into the bedroom with the doctor and Saeyoung following close behind him. MC was sitting up in bed hyperventilating, tears streaming down her cheeks, the sheets clutched close to her chest. The moment she saw Jumin, she reached for him, her voice breaking into a sob.
“I woke up and you weren’t here!” She was shaking, and Jumin immediately sat down on the bed beside her, wrapping her in his embrace, pressing his face against her neck and whispering soothingly. She quieted as he held her and she buried her face into his chest, hiccuping quietly.
“Darling,” He murmured, placing a finger under her chin and tilting her face up to look at him. “The doctor is here to check up on you. He wants to treat your wounds. Be a good girl and let him treat you, alright?” He placed another kiss on her forehead when she nodded silently, wiping at her eyes, then stood back to allow the doctor to look at her.
The older man frowned as he examined the numerous whip lashes on her body, the frown turning into a scowl upon finding the bruise on her cheek from where the man had backhanded her. “Injury after injury.” He muttered, his voice low and angry. “What kind of monster….” Jumin was scowling as well as the doctor continued his examination. He didn’t normally get angry, but in that moment he could have killed the strange man and not think twice about it. The doctor pulled a salve and some bandages out of his bag, rubbing the salve into MC’s wounds. She gasped and winced in pain, and Jumin reached for her hand, squeezing it tightly. “This salve will help heal the lash wounds. I’m going to bandage them as well, so just make sure to add more salve every time you change the bandages. And make sure to take the bandages off every time you bathe. It wouldn’t do to get them wet.” He shot Jumin a look. “I assume you will be helping with that?”
Jumin smirked. “If my wife wishes.” He murmured, watching in amusement as a blush flitted across MC’s cheeks. The doctor merely chuckled and started wrapping bandages around MC’s wounds, taking care to be extra gentle. Saeyoung tapped Jumin on the shoulder, indicating that since MC was ok, he was going to start installing the cameras. Jumin nodded, his gaze focused on his wife as the doctor applied a bandage to the mark on her cheek.
Once the doctor was finished he left strict instructions with Jumin on how to apply the salve and change the bandages. “You call me if you need anything. I’ll be right over.” Jumin nodded and opened the door for the older man, sending him off with a heartfelt thanks. After checking with security that everything was quiet, he closed the door behind him and returned to the bedroom, completely ignoring Saeyoung as he installed the cameras.
MC looked up with a smile as he walked in, loosening his tie and unbuttoning his shirt slightly with a sigh. He slid into bed next to her and pulled her into his side, and she immediately snuggled her head onto his chest, fingers clutching at his shirt. He rested his head against the headboard, closing his eyes with a yawn. It had been a long two weeks, but MC was finally home safe. Jumin could tell that his wife had already fallen asleep, and he had a feeling he’d be joining her in slumber soon. He was exhausted, and his lack of sleep was finally catching up to him. And so he pulled a pillow behind his head, settling MC more comfortably against his side, closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep himself.
Saeyoung smiled when he found the couple asleep on the bed, having just finished installing the last of the cameras. He would tell Jumin how to work it later. For now, it was best to let them sleep. And so he gathered his belongings and quietly let himself out the door, leaving them to the privacy of their own home and each others company.
