hello everyone ! i know this is mostly a diary blog but this is relatively urgent — don’t worry, no money required.

the fwc has seized two non-releasable bats from a bat rescue without good reason.

one of the bats — lucky — is missing his wing due to a machine in a welding and fabrication shop, and the other — betty — had a very bad break in her wrist and can not fly. Both injuries deem them non releasable, but both bats had been seen by 3 vets who deal with bats frequently and had been confirmed to be non-fixable but not in pain and thriving.

The vet that the FWC has brought the bats to works mainly with birds, not bats. Betty has likely not eaten since being taken — as is common with her species, she does not eat worms and only accepts what bat rehabs refer to as “softfood”. The FWC refused the rehabbers offer of some of this softfood for betty.

Now, the vet wants the FWC to euthanize Lucky and wants to do surgery on Betty’s non-fixable wrist.

Bats do not do well in high-pace high-stress situations.

church bells ringing in my ears,

the angels symphony brings me to my knees, ground scraping my legs, not falling to pray, or to weep of joy,

instead, i bring my fingers to my ears to stop the blood from pooling. it sounds like screaming, they all sound so angry.

they said this experience would be freeing, i feel of everything but free.

my vision blurs from the glare, no one told me it'd be like this.

my hands are far too dirty, skin too tainted.

its all too pure, too empty.

the metallic substance leaks from my ears, to my clothes, onto the righteousness around me.

im not supposed to be here.

they were right.

as i imagine hell, the fires engulfing my past scars, leaving fresh wounds. it feels as if this burns more.

the pure bodies surrounding me, blaming me.

anguish towards my blood, hell seems more merciful. screams cherished, pain sought for.

the blood that stains the clouds beneath me would be praised. instead of dulling their beauty, it would adorn the rocks shining in the light of the fire.

i would not be outspoken, nor shunned.

my skin is allowed to dirty,

i am allowed to bleed,

i am allowed to feel,

for i am human,

not an angel.

It's with a heavy but hopeful heart that I watch Palestinian families fundraiser on here, slowly accumulating the precious little money to go around that they need to survive. However, not everyone is so lucky. A lot of Palestinians that have not had that kind of luck, that did not get early verification, that did not get massive platforms behind them from large bloggers, have approached me in my inbox, asking me kindly to do what I can for them. It kills me that I have so little to give myself, but I've seen this platform collectively raise enough to change someone's life. I've made a list of Palestinian fundraisers that are extremely low on funds, in the hope that drawing attention to people who have not been lucky at all can help turn that luck around.
