More and more thunder exploded in the sky, making your anxiety only increase as you nervously looked out the Bullhead’s passenger window. Shock overtook you as you saw the kingdom of Atlas, a large dark cloud looming over it with red lightning occasionally flashing within the brewing storm. Eyes widened, you can’t help but stare at the sight before you feel your hand get grabbed by the one beside you currently piloting the airship away from the seemingly doomed kingdom. Looking over, your eyes met Marrow’s, the young man squeezing your hand reassuringly before taking his eyes back to the skies.
“You probably shouldn’t look for now...” he said with a sigh, fighting off the urge to do so himself. After his fight against Team RWBY, Marrow and the rest of his teammates split apart to search for stragglers in the academy, and of course, Marrow immediately went to look for you. After getting the two of you aboard the nearest Bullhead, he made sure you were in the air and joining in the evacuations. “Don’t worry, we’re almost at the checkpoint. Then, we can hopefully get a handle on where we go from here.”
“Then what?” you ask, your eyes now shifting to look at your weapon which Marrow had stored in the back of the airship. “Between the cold, the Grimm, and now Salem, it just seems like everything’s in a race to see what gets to kill us first.”
“Hey” Marrow’s sudden voice caused you to silence yourself apart from a single sigh of frustration, now deciding to lean your head and look out the window as you began to land. “I know things are bad right now, but I know we can get through this together. No matter what she tries and throw at us.” Marrow’s attempt at uplifting you, however, seemed to not have worked right away, prompting him to turn in his seat to face you, his hands wrapping around yours and holding them tightly. “Hey, I’m with you, okay? Always.”
Once again, you met eyes, his light blue orbs calming your soul ever so slightly. Finally, you say something. “Promise?”
As the doors to the Bullhead began to open, you took a deep breath before rising to your feet. Marrow did the same, nodding to you as he grabbed his weapon and holstered it on your back, watching as you holstered yours as well. Newfound hope and ease resting in your body, you found yourself looking up with Marrow beside you. His words had reached you, and you now knew that no matter what came next, the two of you would undoubtedly face it together.
