Bullet Journal Habit Tracker

There are so many cool and useful pages you can add to your bullet journal! Here, I’m going to talk about one of my favorites: the Habit Tracker.

Here is my habit tracker for September. To make it, I mark a large top row where I can write the habits I want to track, and below that I number each line for a day of the month. Then, I split my top row into little boxes and extend those all the way down through the month - these will become the columns for each habit. After that, I can write a habit in each column, and at the end of every day mark with an x which habits I’ve stuck to for that day. 

On the left side, before the break, I track daily habits, and on the right I track weekly habits. 

Some ideas for useful habits to track:

Brushed teeth

Drank 64oz of water

Worked out

Washed face

Walked dog

Packed lunch

Read a book/Consumed some good media

and many more!

23.9.2015 // One of the options for an essay about The Catcher in the Rye was to write a psychological evaluation of Holden.  I’m thinking borderline personality disorder with bereavement, academic problems, and sexual abuse of child (victim) as additional clinical focuses.  Thoughts?

Tip for Trans College Kids

hey guys! so today was my 2nd day back at college as a sophomore, and I noticed that it was a LOT easier to get teachers to call me by my chosen name if I emailed them before the class even started (asking a question about the textbooks or the materials needed for the first class).

for the 3 classes where I emailed the professor and signed my name as Ray, those 3 teachers called attendance in class but then corrected themselves, or confirmed that I don’t want to be called by my dead name. 

again, please don’t do go outside of your boundaries–especially if you feel you’re not in a safe space or environment– but if you feel safe and comfortable, this trick is really useful for avoiding that awkward “actually-that’s-not-my-name” discussion in front of 20+ people!!!

Beginning of the year chemistry conversions homework.  Some of my answers don’t match the given ones... and I have no idea how to do the last one.  We go over it in class tomorrow and it’s not graded, so at least I won’t have to flounder alone.

Had a productive Sunday!  My Spanish teacher uses Duolingo for our homework, so I have more motivation to make sure to use it every day.  I’m also learning French and desperately waiting for Russian to be finished.  <3 those languages!

It’s always a good idea to lay some groundwork before a new semester starts, even if we’re just talking reading over the syllabus. It is one more thing you don’t have to do once the semester starts. To get you and your thoughts started, here are a four suggestions of how you can spend the summer getting a head start on the fall semester.

Go through the syllabus

If you get it before the semester starts, go through it, highlight the important dates (exams, due dates etc) and maybe write it down in your planner or calendar. This way you have an overview of what is coming up when.

Do some research on your classes

If you’re starting new ones, check out what the class will cover and try to gain some background information. If you’re continuing one, brush up on what you’ve learnt earlier and check out what you’ll be learning in the new semester. 

Learn about your teacher

If it is a new teacher, asking some of their earlier students about them could be a good idea. This way you’ll have some idea about their teaching style, their test questions and everything. This will be especially relevant if it is the teacher or professor that makes the exam and the entire course. Having some detail about what the semester will be like will make things easier for you, also when it comes to your preparations. 

Read ahead

We all know those reading assignments will come sooner or later. If you already have your textbooks (before you get them, check out my textbook tags to see if you can get them for cheap), try to do some reading ahead, and maybe even take some notes. That way you’ll have a head start. Just be warned that it’ll be swallowed pretty quickly.

Received my class schedule for the 2015-16 school year!  It is as follows:

Period 1: Intro to Dance (So excited to start my day with exercise!)

Period 2: Chem Honours

Period 3: Calculus AB AP

Period 4: World Civ

Period 5: English 10 Honours

Period 6: Madrigals! (Super fancy Renaissance choir)

Period 7: Spanish 3 (Finish off nice and easy)

Only five more days left of summer!  I’ll be posting the results of my school shopping soon.
