There's something so special to me about the fact that Mike is considered an asshole and is hard to get along with while still explicitly being a decent guy. He's abrasive and rude and extremely withholding, has a short temper and is impulsively violent, and none of that takes away from the fact that he is fundamentally a kind person who's trying his best, even if he gets it wrong a lot. And once someone does stick around long enough to get past those exterior layers, he's understanding and supportive, he's awkward but sweet in his own way, and almost physically incapable of not trying to help people. Idk it just feels so special to me that he gets to be both
