ACNH : The Gentle Reset Challenge
If you’ve ever used treasure islands or free item drops and quietly sucked the interest out of your game, this challenge is for you. You don’t have to delete your island, you just delete the shortcuts.
Same town. Almost a fresh start.
I'm way too attached to my island to completely reset it, but I've been to so many treasure islands and taken things I hardly use, need or want and just grab because it's there. I've become an acnh hoarder, and with max bells, any materials right there when I want it, it's taken the interesting parts of the game away for me.
This is the challenge for those that want a fresh start, without the FULL fresh start. Like an island detox challenge.
I've been developing this over the last few days and once posted I'll be following the challenge and tracking progress.
It's not that I want to make my game harder, I just want things like shooting stars or finding gold to feel special again.
Delete all items that came from treasure islands, free item drops, max-bell islands, all-DIY islands, star fragment farms, or gold tool farms. Trash those items. Including materials and items you crafted using those materials
Reduce your bells to 100,000 or less
Only use items that come from shops, villagers, your own DIYs, or Nookazon trades you actually paid for
Do not use treasure islands or giveaways to farm items.
Talk to your villagers, do their requests, and give gifts regularly
Invite every campsite villager, no skipping or resetting. Amiibo villagers are permitted
Let villagers leave if they ask to move out
If it didn’t come from Nook’s Cranny, Able Sisters, your villagers, or your own crafting, it goes.
Customising villager houses with HHP only after you've already recieved their photo
Your house should only contain:
Things you bought, things villagers gave you, things you crafted etc
For an extra challenge, if you're feeling it, completely empty your house and entire storage entirely
The purge will probably be the hardest part of the challenge to start with, I know it will be for me.
Find a home and a place for all the items that you're given by villagers.
1000+ collection of chefs outfits? Figure it out.
Honestly? Stop the challenge when you want. Start it again when you want (you'll have to purge all over again though).
Tweak it, change it, do whatever you want.
I just want to bring some joy back into the game for myself, and I'm sure some people feel the same way.
I know some people love TI and use acnh as more like a design game, but I'm only doing this soft reset to mimic the feeling I would get from older AC games :)
