It does piss me off a little bit that serious polyamory representation in media is pretty much non-existent
The fact that no one even seems to care makes feel like I'm going to explode, I'm tired of such a significant part of my life never being represented and often seen as less serious than monogamy.
Its not that it's less serious, it's that functional polyamory challenges the nuclear family dynamic that capitalism has weaponized against the working class. If a household is shown to function with more than only two adults in an exclusive relationship, then it opens the door to what other parts of life might thrive better under community organization.
It also inherently challenges purity culture with multiple varied casual and symbiotically supportive relationships.
Taking both of those into account challenges the Patriarchy itself, and the idea that a singular man should be in charge and rule over his own household like a petty tyrant.
It's only potrayed as unserious or rife with conflict and betrayal in media to keep it defanged and propagandized as a guaranteed failure state. In truth, it very directly challenges several foundational pillars upholding the power structures in our current western society. The status quo therefore cannot allow it to exist or be portrayed as a healthy alternative to monogamy or to the nuclear family model.
these are getting weird
hbo max blocks screenshots even when I use the snipping tool AND firefox AND ublock which is a fucking first. i will never understand streaming services blocking the ability to take screenshots thats literally free advertising for your show right there. HOW THE HELL IS SOMEBODY GONNA PIRATE YOUR SHOW THROUGH SCREENSHOTS. JACKASS
somewhere out there is a guy who meticulously takes screenshots of every individual frame of his favorite tv shows and then painstakingly etches each one onto a roll of film which he puts into his old timey projector and recreates the footage as a silent film with his own lavishly hand-lettered dialogue cards and original score that he plays on his upright piano and charges audiences one shiny penny a play. at last, big media has finally outsmarted ol' Zachary Zoetrope
PSA for everyone who doesn't know, explained simply
this is NOT because of blocking screenshots, it's because of HOW streaming sites use your computer's hardware to optimise performance, which means the thing rendering the video and the thing capturing your screen aren't the SAME thing. so they can't talk together.
you can fix this by going to your browser settings, searching for "hardware acceleration", and turning that off.
This also fixes screen sharing to other screens. It has been GODSEND
type this in the toolbar to find this setting in firefox: about:preferences#searchResults
ol' Zachary Zoetrope is back in business!

No you mis heard me

one time I told my therapist "I tend to have issues with people who think of themselves as authority figures" and she burst out laughing and then said "I think we need to pause and reflect on how you phrased that"
It’s that time of year again so here is your yearly reminder that the world isn’t ending and people don’t hate you. The sun is just setting at 6 pm.
Please take your vitamin D
HEY SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE GIRLIES, ITS OUR TURN TO ENDURE THE DARK DAYS NOW, BUT STAY STRONG. THE WORLD IS NOT ENDING; THE SUN IS JUST SETTING AT 5-to-6 PM. BUT SHE WILL COME BACK TO US SOON. TAKE A VITAMIN D AND HANG IN THERE.
we've successfully reached liveposting guys, here's something im currently working on
we need a ritual where you can climb into a hole in the ground for roughly 24 hours and just close your eyes and not do anything, and nobody is allowed to look for you or speak your name, and whenever you want to reemerge then you can climb back out and people are forbidden from commenting on your absence. can someone get on this.
i love this shot they’re all so weirded out

I think a lot of people in the indie TTRPG spaces who think of their TTRPGs as art kinda have a David Cage approach to the idea that TTRPGs are art, in that they don't actually think ordinary mainstream TTRPGs like D&D, Pathfinder, Call of Cthulhu, etc. are art. They think TTRPGs could be art, but only if somebody who never lowered themselves to fully engage with the mainstream entries in the medium came in and showed them how to be art - everything before that point being just mindless waste.
The result is that they try to make some really deep and meaningful shit without knowing that it's been done before and done better by entries just barely below the surface level, and without knowing basic things about the inner workings of the engines of the medium itself that make them function.
If I want to make this observation into something actually constructive, I might say, like, instead of making your first very TTRPG something that you think has never even been attempted before and will blow everyone's fuckin minds instantly, your first TTRPG should probably be a really basic remake of Basic D&D (like, D&D1e) from the ground up with your own tools and knowledge. When they teach you video game design in college, they don't sit 101 students down and tell them to make something completely original, they tell them to make, like, really basic platformers and shit. You have to know how to make Super Mario Bros. before you can make The Game That Changes The Way You Think of Video Games Forever.
(The one small problem with the comparison is that entering the hobby of TTRPGs through D&D5e and its fucked up play culture as your first game actually really demonstrably makes you a worse player, game master, and designer with a ton of really bad habits to unlearn. I don't think the same could be said for, like, Super Mario and Fortnite in video games.)
