Smiley was always, as his name implies, smiling and friendly. Since you two met and he gave you one of those smiles that make all the girls fall for him and all those who doubt him would end up believing in his words, it was game over for you. Able to calm storms just by moving the corner of his mouth upwards, Nahoya was the epitome of "smile and everything will be fine"
However, not everything was rosy when it came to Smiley. Behind that big inviting smile of his, there was a dark man, wicked and even more, toxic. dating smiley didn't end up going the way you planned. Already two years into the relationship, his aura completely changed. Like a black widow, he invited you, through his smile and his false kindness, into his net from which now you cannot escape.
"You can't go out with your friends, we have plans," he said, ironically smiling at you. You got sick of that smile, of him, of everything. How can it be that the same day he tells you to do something is the same day you planned an outing with your friends? Ghat, to be fair, you have been planning for weeks. Who does he think he is? Does he think you're going to cancel everything for him? He believes that he is a kind of god or that he exercises greater power over you and who you are.
Yes. Because it is so.
"I'm sorry but we've had this planned for weeks.'' He made it look like he was ignoring what you were saying, but his hand squeezing your wrist indicated otherwise. For the way he is, you'd be surprised if someone sees him snapping. The problem is that nobody sees it. No one is able to see the traces of his toxicity that are marked on your skin like bullets. Always speaking before you, he says you fell off the ladder or that you tripped and he grabbed you by the wrist to prevent you from falling and that is why you had bruises. Always hanging around, leaving you aside. Taking advantage of the fact that he is loved, admired.

Go" the grip on your wrist was getting stronger and stronger with each word pronounced, but you felt no pain. your wrists were already deep purple from all the times he did that, not even letting the skin heal a bit between each abuse. Nahoya knew it, he knew all that and more. But you were his slave, his doll, his inanimate object that he calls partner. He never considered you as an object that feels, breathes and has life. He is the one who has to have life in the relationship, the rest does not matter.
"Leave me" you yelled at him, trying to fight, to show any resistance but it always ends the same way. Yanking your arm, Smiley knocks you to the ground and quickly pinned you, obstructing any possible escape routes you may have. With one hand hitting you across the face, Smiley kept physically abusing you until you become a stupid object, following his orders with lightness in your mind due to the pain.
The matter always goes on like this. He hits you, he takes care of you. Yes, Smiley takes care of visible wounds. He doesn't have to have an ugly, bruised partner with a horrible, swollen face. Smiley treats the wounds inflicted by him until you are presentable again. During that time you do not leave the house, the pain in your whole body being stronger than you. Feeling weak, helpless, lying in bed with a smiley, who, clearly, wears a smile from ear to ear while pouring pure alcohol on a cotton ball and goes through your wounds if you suffered from cuts. Screaming from pain, he shushes you, saying that you are ungrateful if you insult him. Telling you why you dare to insult him, when he is the one who heals you, the one who makes you feel good.
Once recovered, you just look down and obey everything he tells you, making you feel guilty that he could not attend the restaurant or go out with his friends because he was too busy taking care of you, a disgusting and ungrateful bitch. Smile disappears and he just looks you in the face and spits at you, warning you again that he doesn't want you to go overboard, that maybe next time he won't be so merciful.
"Thank you smiley, I love you smiley" is what you always say. After all, you'd be dead without him.

nahoya came across you when someone else had been flirting with you, you were surprised when his hand clamped down on your shoulder. his smile never fading as he told the person you were talking to to “fuck off.”
before you could stop him, he was grabbing you by the wrist and tugging you away. you didn’t think much of it, but you mentioned it to souya when telling him about your day.
souya was livid, his eyes wide and veins popping even more than usual. he was outraged that his brother acted that way towards you.
you weren’t sure how to react. sure, nahoya shouldn’t have done that. but was it such a big deal.
you told souya to calm down, which he did instantly upon your request. you thought it was a bit weird, but didn’t linger on it.
souya asked to hang out one day and you came over his place. surprisingly, nahoya was there. and he freaked when he saw you, going off on souya about how he could’ve let him know that you were coming, to which souya replied, “what do you care?”
it got silent, you could feel the tension rising between the two as they glared at each other.
you tried to quell the tension by saying that it was okay and that you would leave, but they both yelled “no!” at that and nahoya practically forced you back into your seat. souya didn’t bother convincing you to say, he told you quietly that you could leave if you wanted. but nahoya threatened to kill you if you did.
you decided to stay. not that you had much of a choice.
time ticked by rather quickly and you found yourself too afraid to announce your departure, so you ended up falling asleep on souya’s shoulder. he didn’t mind, but nahoya sure did.
nahoya, as gently as possible, maneuvered your body over so that you would sleep on his shoulder instead.
souya wasn’t willing to give up, so he did the same and it went back and forth until you were woken up by nahoya’s incredibly loud voice, “give ‘er here! she was mine first!”
“yeah right! fuck off!” that was souya.
once they realized you were awake, they stopped and looked at you blankly. nahoya forced that large grin of his and souya merely looked away.
let’s just say, you didn’t hang out with them again.
you had heard what they said and found it creepy, so you made it a point to ignore them the best you could.
but you noticed that the people you usually hung out with started to disappear one by one until practically only souya and nahoya were left.
and you couldn’t ignore them for much longer, but you tried your best anyway.
well, at least until nahoya caught you by surprise.
he had caught you by the shoulder on your way out of your last class of the day, you were shaken and rightfully so. all your friends had either been hospitalized or gone missing.
you thought you would be next.
nahoya had pulled you into the empty classroom and told you that you “ought to be careful because souya might cry soon if you don’t forgive us.”
you weren’t sure what he meant.
had ignoring them really been enough to make souya cry?
you tried to ignore the churning feeling in your stomach as you walked home.
you had plans to meet with a friend of yours, but when you went to their classroom, they weren’t there so you decided to walk home alone despite nahoya’s desperate attempts to accompany you.
souya had been there too, unable to look in your eyes and hiding behind his brother as always. that same large grin plastered on nahoya’ s face.
but when you insisted on walking home alone, his etched smile finally fell and you knew you had made a mistake. but you couldn’t find it in yourself to apologize, so you rushed home.
but as you were passing by a dimly lit alleyway, you heard a yelp and a whimper; it sounded like someone was hurt.
your legs moved before your brain could catch up and you found yourself at the mouth of the alley, peering in to find something you wished you hadn’t seen.
it was souya beating your friend with his bare fists, tears dripping down his face.
nahoya stood back, leaning against the grimy brick walls, his bright hair tied up in a bun as he watched his brother go to work.
your knees felt weak and you nearly vomited right then and there. it all clicked at once.
nahoya and souya had been the ones picking off your friends.
and just when you wobbled to your feet, ready to run, souya appeared before you with inhuman speed.
nahoya quirked a brow as he realized you were there too, coming to join his brother in greeting you.
“hey, (y/n).” nahoya said nonchalantly, shrugging his shoulders as he gave a soft smile. nothing like his former grin.
“you know,” he pauses, peering over his shoulder to glance at your beaten friend. “you weren’t supposed to see that.”
souya just stood there, eyes wide and empty as his brother patted him on the back. “it was all my idea. the whole ‘knocking your friends off’ thing, I mean. but souya told me it was wrong, he told me to stop. but when you cut us off, he just couldn’t take it anymore, so he...”
nahoya let out a bitter chuckle with another shrug of his shoulders. a genuine smile tugging at his lips. that’s when you noticed the dried patch of blood on his cheek.
“he’s a different person when he cries. I tried to warn you, but you didn’t listen.” his smile began to return bit by bit until it matched its usual luster.
“he tried to stop me, and I tried to stop him. but it just didn’t work.” he let out a sigh, feigning disappointment. “oh, well.”
before you could put up a fight, nahoya instructed souya to grab your legs while he took your arms. “now that you know our secret, we can’t have you goin’ around and ratting us out now, can we?” you kicked and screamed, but it was no use. you found yourself cussing up a storm, calling them out of their names, and attempting to hit them. but souya especially wasn’t having it, being abnormally aggressive with you and nearly tearing your knee out of its socket. that sure shut you up.
nahoya shoved an extra helmet on your head and souya begrudgingly buckled it below your chin, you had been forced to sit on the back of nahoya’s bike, one of his hands on the handlebars and the other clutching yours to ensure you wouldn’t try to escape.
he may or may not have sped down the streets much faster than he usually would, hoping to scare you into not jumping off. and he may or may not have over exaggerated about the possible outcome of you jumping off as well—“(y/n), if you jumped off at the speed we’re going now, you’d die for sure.”
souya had eventually come back into himself, telling his older brother that he was being too mean to you.
you didn’t know where they were taking you or why. but you soon found a chill running down your spine when you saw a familiar place—their place.
you tried to fight them after hopping off the bike, but they grabbed you just as they had done before. but this time, nahoya took your legs and souya took your arms. nahoya genuinely laughed at your struggle, practically throwing you down once they had gotten you in the door.
souya tried to be gentle, possibly in an attempt to make up for how he treated you before. but you despised his touch, his knuckles red and and bloodied from having hit your friend what must have been a good dozen or so times.
souya saw the way you pulled away from him and felt a little guilt. but his brother felt none, smiling down at you all the same. the two towered over you from your place on the ground and nahoya let out another chuckle as he shut the door and locked it behind him. yet another mischievous smile painted on his face.
“looks like this is karma for you ignoring us huh, (y/n)?”
