I was talking with a friend about Pink Diamond after seeing all this shit about her being either good or bad. This is taken directly from our conversation.

“so Pink Diamond was neglected/emotionally abused by the other diamonds but she was also spoiled. She lashed out and hurt many people she did nothing but make mistake after mistake. she is an abuser but she’s also a victim. Does being a victim make her abuse less terrible? no. does being an abuser make her less of a victim? no. she is the perfect example of a three dimensional character a realistic character. We have all hurt people, but we’ve all been hurt too. So Pink Diamond is not a villain nor a hero, she’s a young leader who never learned how to handle the world.”

I personally don’t find it fair to say she was a terrible person, she did terrible and unforgivable things, yes, but that doesn’t make her “evil”. Those are just my thoughts. Feel free to discuss.

Unpopular opinion!!! Uhm. Pink...Pink Diamond doesn't deserve ALL the hate she gets. Hear me out.

SPOILERS FOR SU FUTURE

Keep in mind that when we see Pink Diamond we see her development backwards. what we see is something that we saw was good that turned bad but when reality it was something bad that turned good. Just listen. So, going as far back as the show has let us know, which is about I don't know maybe like 10000 years before the invasion of Earth to smth? Idk. Pink diamond had Pink Pearl AKA Volleyball, and was a very destructive and annoying gem. she literally hit Volleyball with such a strong physical attack that she couldn't heal it at The Reef. for unknown reasons, probably shortly after, Volleyball was taken away from Pink. She was most likely quickly gifted OUR Pearl. she was still very needy but it looks like she had learned that she couldn't lash out as much as she did although it backfired and she kept everything hidden. she complained and whined abt a colony until she finally got one and when she got it, she wasn't satisfied. She decided to go on Earth and figure out what life was like. when she saw what life was he decide that she was going to protect it because no one else had protected her life- emotionally. from what we've seen the diamonds can be very neglectful and I have a feeling that pink have been left alone in a tower for god-knows-how-long many many times. that kind of powerful neglect can cause someone to change and warp into a horrible person but when she realized what she'd become she decide to change for the better. this still doesn't make up for everything she's done wrong leaving spinel hurting pink pearl lying to Diamonds and everyone who know her and loved her- but it does give reason. she did not just hurt people because she wanted to she hurt people because she was hurting and although it's not write it really does show you why she did the things she did. Again I cannot emphasize enough but what she did was wrong but there was reason. Once on Earth took a stand against her own family and flat for the gems that wanted freedom. As much as she hated the diamonds I'm pretty sure but she still loved them, there's no way she couldn't have. she gave up her own happiness and freedom but she also gave up Pearl's happiness and freedom which is also another reason people hate her which I understand. One thing that I do think she deserves hate for this is just my opinion I'm sure, is that she should not have given up her form. electric great things obviously that's how it always will be when a child is born but to put all that on to an unsuspecting young child is something that he shouldn't have had to deal with. Stevens maturity levels rise around the time he is 14 and that's insane that he has the mentality of an adult when he was only a child. honestly this whole thing might be a little confusing and I'm tired but I hope it gives some insight on why do I think Pink Diamond doesn't deserve all the hate she gets.
