What's the origin of your blog name?

I used to play The Sims (2, the one from 20 years ago) and that’s why I joined tumblr in the first place. It has a cute retro flamingo you can put on your lawn and kick and that’s how that happened.

What's your 'I will always order this' food?

Anything with raw fish or shellfish if we’re talking fancy, maximum spicy-cheesy if it’s fast food.

What's your overused emoji?

I generally don’t like them, but apprently it’s ♥️

What's your current comfort show/book/movie?

The nanny of course! Cannot get any more comforting. If I had more time, I’d love to rewatch the Sopranos (best thing ever) and Twin Peaks. I’m reading Thomas Mann’s Buddenbrooks with my husband and we talk about each chapter bundled up on the couch.

Song you've had on repeat this week?

None, I’m not in a music phase unfortunately. I miss that part of my younger self.

What's the last thing you hyperfixated on?

CC and Niles from The Nanny. Their relationship, her style, the actors, their other roles. All of it. It’s been 25 years and I’m not over them.

What's an oddly specific thing that brings you joy?

Stuff that glitters. Fairy lights. Weird lamps. Bright 50s pottery. You would never suspect I like these things from looking at me.

What smell instantly makes you happy?

A gas stove burning and coffee. Reminds me of camping in my childhood.

What's something you loved as a kid that you secretly love now?

Lego and toy trains. My son is just getting into these and I can barely stop myself from taking over his room.

What's your phone wallpaper right now?

A picture of sparkly pool water I took on my honeymoon.

Are you a morning person, night owl, or something else entirely?

Owl forced to live as a lark. My kids are up at 6. My brain is not.

If you work, what is your work profession? And do you like it?

I teach and research literature. I love it so much and it brings me endless anxiety and stress.

My Humble Gift for the Game's 20th Anniversary

A llama lava lamp! It is found under Lighting/Table Lamps for 100$, and casts a cool white light. The animated textures loop smoothly in game. I just couldn't fit the whole cycle in a gif. The llama started its existence as a mesh from TS3's Midnight Hollow set, converted here by Veranka. Also: wew, slave subsets are even more of a pain in the ass on lamps. Enjoy being able to recolour the goo, glass and glow pattern, because I spent a while finicking with them. -> Download at SimFileShare

4t2 High School Years Cabinet and some Posters

Here is a cabinet from High School Years and some posters separated from Discover University. The cabinet has all new mapping and it's own smaller texture. The original separated conversions are by @sforzcc .

The cabinet's original two colors are merged with the mesh. There is a separate file with recolors in (something close to) @shastakiss retro palette.

The posters have three swatches each, which appear twice because of how the subsets of the master object work.

Cabinet costs 80 (surfaces - misc), posters cost 2.

The five posters are repo'd to pixelry's conversion of the Display of Affections (see here in the database).

Cabinet requires Lordcrumps shadow file (not included).

Hi simmers, I'm reblogging this incredible ts4 interior hoping someone can tell me where to find the ceiling lamp in the last picture, as well as the tree painting directly underneath. Anyone? I'd like to convert both to TS2, if nobody has done that yet.

4t2 Myshunosun Birthday Cake

Five items converted from @myshunosuns Birthday Cake Living Room. They require @lordcrumps shadow file (not included, you only need one of these in your Downloads folder). Peak 90's. The seating is repo'd to the sofa, the coffee table is repo'd to the endtable. The seating textures are quite large (1024) though, I didn't want to lose the details.

Here is an edit of michelle's conversion of the TS4 Cats and Dogs Classic Bella curtains. I repo'd them and fixed the shadow on the curtain rod. They're really cool because they're modular and come in several lengths!

Please let the meshes overwrite the old ones, if you have them already.

I also converted some retro recolors by xxmercury (warning: TSR!).

Posteffects on bootcamp– not even once, kids! You'll get hooked and everything will be terrible. Taking a single screenshot will take 15 minutes, because the camera barely moves and your laptop might burn your thighs. Stay safe.

I needed a 4 tile centered version of the Sims are Watching window that @terasim converted, so I made it! This is repositoried to the original 3 tile window so you'll need to download the mesh and its recolors here if you don't have them already.

4t2 Eco Lifestyle Windows

Hi Simmers! Here is an ancient WIP I finally (sort of) finished. It's 5 windows from Eco Lifestyle. Details below the cut!

You get the "Aquarium", "Squirrel" (it's in the original name, sorry), "Box right", "Box left" and "Box horizontal". There are six recolors and most have diagonals (Aquarium will be updated one day).

Some additional information:

I remeshed some of these to have subsets for wood and metal and no duplicate textures.

The slots are not perfect, especially on Box right. Not sure why.

This is the most advanced conversion I've done so far, please tell me if there's anything that could be improved. I'm happy about any and all feedback! Nobody except me tested this.

There are more windows and doors from this set converted by @ethanmcgregor here. I think I used his window as a template, thanks Ethan!

Swatch not included in the zip and the recolors are also not necessarily in the right order. Sorry.

Seit man in der Welt des Computers Häuser nicht mehr nur bauen, sondern auch vermieten kann, läuft da einiges aus dem Ruder.

German Newspaper Süddeutsche on Ts4 For Rent: “ Finally kill your tenants!” . I don’t agree with anything in the article though. It says TS4 is less consumerist than previous installments and more focused on the complex emotions of the characters. Ha.
