sometimes i stay up at night wondering what dean prayed to cas all those nights in purgatory
i imagine they started off as irritated “cas, what the hell man??? why’d you just take off??!!”
then they’d become angry “dude WHERE ARE YOU” “you’re being a real dick right now” “ANSWER ME DAMNIT!”
then things would get desperate “cas, where are you? are you okay? “please tell me you’re still there” “i can’t lose you. i need you.”
and some nights would get really bad and dean would be really scared and he’s begging cas to come back to him or he’s become too tired and he’s ready to just throw in the towel cause his everything is sore and he can’t sleep and he doesn’t want to be paranoid 24/7, but then he’d remember that he can’t give up on cas, not after how much they’ve been though, because he’s family, because he loves him.
then the prayers become more like “don’t worry buddy i’m coming to get you” “we’re gonna get outta here together, deal?” “i ain’t giving up on you so you better not give up on me” “cas, baby, i love you, i’ll find you, i swear”
because dean will never ever stop fighting for the ones he loves
