Witchcraft is often far too concerned with sanitization.
"Cleanse your tools weekly!" "Never buy anything second-hand or bring a gift into your home without purifying its energy!" "Your tools won't work if they've sat too long!"
No wonder your craft has the vibrational tone of a department store. I'm looking for that kind of magic that has a ༄ؘ ۪۪۫۫ ▹patina◃ ۪۪۫۫ ༄ؘ
yesss you need energy around you in order to be able to work with it
And on that note, my next spell:
Jar of Self
Have you ever cleansed an object or spelljar or item of enchantment and found you were left with an overly sanitized department store energy like tumblr user @thewoodbine here? Consider making a Jar of Self! A jar that emits pure unadulterated you energy. Sprinkle a little bit of it's contents on or in the object you want to ~patina~ it with -if you will- with your energy.
To start you're going to need a jar. Any jar. Just pick one you like, clean and cleanse it.
Now you're going to need to get to whatever you consider your sacred ground. And fill about 1/3 of the jar with that ground. For me it was sand from the beach by my house where I grew up. For you it might be the dirt from the backyard of your parents house. Or from your own back garden where you may have devoted hours on hours to a blooming flower bed. From the woods where you love to go hike all the time... Wherever, whatever, you find the place you love the most and you fill the jar 1/3 of the way.
If you find a neat rock or shell or stick while you're assembling the jar, pop it in! Why not? It was probably meant to be. A little extra sacred space seasoning.
Now you're going to go home and get in the bath- or shower- whichever you have or enjoy more. Light a tea light. Really I cannot emphasize how important having a candle is for the next steps so make sure you've got your candle. Have your jar next to you- within reaching distance but not so close as to get wet- and just have a lovely time.
When the vibes are feeling immaculate take a hair from your head- or if you don't have hair long enough hair to pluck with your fingers you can nibble/trim off a piece of fingernail, something like that- and you're going to place it on the edge of the tub (on a dish in the shower? A clean wet surface where it's not going to get washed down the drain). If you've got long hair, swirl it into a small pile.
You're going to take your tealight and pour a little bit of wax out onto your hair/nail/ect. Keep pouring in little increments at a time- the goal is to make a vaguely humanoid blob of wax.
When you're done your bath/shower take the little wax poppet you've just made and place it in the jar. I half buried mine, just roll with your intuition, this is a jar of self- do what feels right to you.
Next you're going to want to add a crystal or several. Ones that you feel connected to. Or that just feel right. I had a bowl of crystal confetti next to my bed for two years so I took a pinch or two out and added it to my jar because that felt right.
Now put the jar somewhere safe, preferably near where you sleep or wherever you spend at least 6 hours a day. You're going to leave it open because for potentially years you'll be adding things to it.
You're looking for small things that come from magic moments in your life
A flower from a bouquet - gifted to you by a lover, admirer or friend
A leaf that fell while you were standing outside and landed right on you
A four leaf clover you found
The dried bloom of one of your houseplants that flourished under your adoring care.
Things like that. All of mine have been strictly organics so far. To me, flowers are nature's fireworks- but for you... maybe you'll add buttons or ribbons or a Lego piece or a hot wheels car! Again do what feels right for you this jar is an essence of you. Your places. Your moments. Your happiness.
And after about a month or so, your jar is going to start to really give off a lot of energy that radiates*you*.
So now when you've got a Jar of Self with pure essence of you. The smallest pinch of that sand or dirt is now a powerful spell ingredient to saturate whatever it is that you're making with your own energy.
