Hello! My main hyperfixations are LOZ (lots of that is LU specifically) and HTTYD (THW does not exist) so you'll mostly see that but you'll occasionally see other things in there, like Iron Man, Fire Emblem Awakening, and FMAB. Just recently got into Danny Phantom so am fixating on that one a lot right now. I'm also an aspiring writer, a cat lover, and a lover of beautiful art, so you'll see some things related to that too. Hard to believe it's been 22 years since the show came out!

Wasn't able to make anything crazy to celebrate this year, so here's just some quick environmental practices I made 🫣

thinking about rtte again and i absolutely loved those episodes where Astrid and the twins had to work together.

I think my favorite example of this is Edge of Disaster. Astrid takes everything so seriously and the twins generally don't, and that continuously causes a lot of tension between them. But sometimes, we have episodes like Edge of Disaster, where they can get past that and actually work together. and through doing that, we can see them realizing that even though they think about and treat things differently, they're all very clever and are good at strategy, and they come to respect each other more.

Aftermath of This Comic

Hoo boy y'all really liked the fireshield earring comic, that thing's gone past 2k notes, I'm flattered! 

Here's what I imagine happened after the prank, as originally written in a reply to a comment:

Sky would roll himself out of the fire before anyone tried any unnecessary heroics and actually got hurt trying to save him. And when his earrings activate and everyone just stares at his unharmed body in shock? He absolutely looses it. Full on deep-to-wheezy laugh until he's gasping for breath, and while some of the others want to scold him for scaring them like that, they just can't stay mad at him and can't help but laugh along. Wild gets several great pictures but is also assigned first watch with Sky as "punishment" when the Chain finds out he was involved. Of course, Sky's been laughing so hard that he can't help but drop into a deep sleep after a few minutes, leaving Wild to do first watch alone. Wild lets it slide. He has funny pictures to keep him up ^u^

Also thank you to the Anon Ask yesterday that said the Sky and Wild prank duo tracks! I wasn't completely comfortable posting the ask as it had an abbreviated swear but I'm so thankful that you liked the fire shenanigans, haha!

Today I learned Wes Weston from Danny Phantom, ISN'T EVEN A REAL CHARACTER.

The fandom just took a background character and gave him more depth than a live action Disney remake.

And that's fucking awesome. I love how the Danny Phantom fandom is literally built almost entirely on fanon. Most of the stuff the fandom is known for, like vivisections, the names "Ghost Investigation Ward" and apparently also the name "Infinite Realms", are all completely fanon.

I've never even seen the show, and have only read fics and whatnot, and it's amazing to see how an entire fandom collaborates to make universal tropes and whatnot that many people use in creating media for the show.

Phantom Planet was never a particularly good episode, but in our hatred we have tragically overlooked the actual coolest moment in the show:

Danny and Maddie spend the whole series hiding Vlad's true nature from Jack because they think he won't be able to handle the truth, a theory supported by the obsequious love Jack shows for him the entire series. But it turns out they, much like Vlad (and everyone else), underestimate his capabilities and get caught completely off-guard.

The second he discovers his true nature, Jack abandons Vlad without and ounce of hesitation. 10/10

Another AO3 app that's pretending to be official when it's not (or at least isn't making it clear its unofficial.) They're using AO3's name and logo, and embedding ads.

There is no official AO3 app

Someone else is gathering your data, potentially your log in information etc and making use of it how they please. (They say they're not but their privacy policy says otherwise)

They are making money from the ads without the fic writer's consent.

They've also rated it Pegi 3 (which is ludicrous)

Please, even if you care about nothing else, for the safety of your data, please don't use this app. Certainly don't give it your AO3 log in details.

I've told AO3 that it's infringing on its copyright. I will be requesting they remove access of my work as I do not consent to my creative content being used to generate ad revenue for them.

I will be reporting it as incorrectly rated.

The only email address I can find is [email protected] which is included in their privacy policy, and [email protected] as their developer.

AO3 has no app, and will not have an app.

The site is designed to work well in mobile browsers, and if you have an account and log in, you can subscribe to works (and authors!), you can bookmark work (and leave notes to yourself in your bookmark about what chapter you were on), and you can mark a work as "Mark for Later" so you can find it later when you have time to read. You can even choose a site skin and have it work whenever you sign into your account, whether you're on mobile or at a computer.

If you don't have an account, they're easy to get. You can either sign up and wait the few days until they get to you, or someone who already has an account can send you an invitation (I have several and am willing to send mine out to people who ask).

If you migrate from Wattpad to Ao3....

I'm fucking begging you to actually tag your works properly AND DO NOT CENSOR WHAT YOU WRITE OR TAG !!! Terms like "unalive" "sewer slide" and other censored terms are NOT welcome here, and you wont be punished by the algorithm for talking about death and blood and stuff BECAUSE THERES IS NO ALGORITHM ! Also making place holders IS NOT ALLOWED BY AO3 TOS. It just clogs up the archive for nothing, if you do this, thats a sure way to get your stuff reported. Please learn how Ao3 works, its nothing like Wattpad.

Alright, to ao3's soon to be arriving Wattpad Refugees, a basic guide to general user culture:

1.) Unlike Wattpads vote system that let's you like each chapter, the ao3 equivalent kudos only allows one per work. Everyone is generally quietly annoyed about this. To engage with each chapter, you're heavily encouraged to comment. Trust me, it makes people's day.

2.) Ao3 has no algorithm. By default it's latest updated work first. You can find things to your taste through searches, filters and tags.

3.) 'No archive warnings apply' and 'user has chosen not to use archive warnings' mean two very different things. No archives warnings means the work is free from any content that could require a warning tag (character death, graphic depictions of violence, non-con, etc). User has chosen not to use archive warnings means it could contain any of the warning content, be it hasn't been explicitly tagged. Treat it like an allergen. No archive warnings apply is allergen free. User has chosen not to use archive warnings, may contain traces or whole chunks of the allergen. If you're likely to have a bad reaction, maybe don't take the risk.

4.) Speaking of warnings, ao3 has very few restrictions on the type of work that's allowed. Whatever your personal thoughts or feelings on that are, thats how the site is. You're likely to run across some dark subject matters and a lot of people are uncomfortable with reading that. You're well within your rights not like these works and have your opinion on whether they should be allowed, but harassing the authors of such works (or any works) is more likely to come back on you than them. Ao3 operates on a strong policy of 'don't like, don't read'. Use the tagging system to your full advantage to only engage with the kind of works you want to see.
