They had to bite their tongue to stop themself from laughing at Kirby’s comment, unless they wanted to give themself away that quickly. They huffed to push the urge to laugh away, hoping it made them come off as angry.
“You sure about that kid? It’s usually the ones who think they’re good that end up being the worst, don’t you know?” They walked around him once to observe him, trying to unsettle him. “Yes, something about your name makes me think that you are not quite as good as you claim to be.”
Kirby wasn’t sure why he was nervous about their accusation. The worst he had ever done was when he had been mistaken about things, and even then everything worked out in the end! Even that time with the shortcake!
“But... then how would I prove it one way or the other? Who could... I can’t imagine who’d hold a grudge against me without being obviously evil?”
