Lately I've been showing Dragon Age Inquisition to my mom, who very much enjoys any sort of fantasy and watches the game like a movie while I explain the world around it.

The funniest part of it is that I'm slowly manipulating her into loving Solas for his wisdom and politeness, and she's getting all interested in the elven lore. I feel like I'm setting up a trap.

We just finished the game. Mission accomplished. This is an accurate depiction of my mom after the Flemeth/Solas scene in the end:

Confused, shocked and has more questions than I'm willing to answer. I also have to take a break so we won't be able to go through the Trespasser yet. So I shall leave her marinating in all the thoughts for a bit. I feel very evil.

We finished Trespasser, with three most important things in it according to my mom: 1) Inquisitor should've proposed to the lovely lady Pentaghast right there right then 2) Dorian can NOT leave us for Tevinter. Because she loves him the most out of all of em. 3) Solas being an ancient god - absolutely startling, beyond words. Also, where did he get that beautiful armor?

Not a thing more important than these, priorities set straight.

And after a long break we are starting the Veilguard. It's already hilarious to me how she sees Rook and their companions and the only question at all times is "where's Solas".

We finished the Veilguard quite some time ago. It was all so funny to me. Watching mom going from not caring for Rook's team AT ALL cause she was still not over the Inquisition's gang and too invested in Solas. And straight to gushing over Assan and Davrin, falling absolutely in love with Taash which really surprised me, adoring Bellara and Harding like they were her own daughters, swooning all over Lucanis (understandable), respecting and admiring Neve (she called her 'our beautiful girl') and laughing at Emmrich and Manfred despite usually disliking any spooky stuff. And I loved the characters more through her eyes too.

And then there was Solas XD. The way she agonized over him going from loving to hating to pitying and to finally crying over him. Yeah, mom, welcome to this hell. That's the only right and reasonable reactions to this stupid wonderful elf.

All in all I gotta say: I always loved Inquisition as it is, dearly. I didn't like Veilguard that much when I played on my own for the first time. But when you play with someone who's genuinely interested and is not picking the story apart at any moment simply enjoying the ride, it's as if you are able to see it all through their eyes and start loving and enjoying it so much more, too.

If you ever wanna experience your favourite games or movies for the first time all over again find yourself someone who you're sure will love it as much as you do and introduce them to it. It was amazing sharing something you care about a lot with someone you care about.

I'm sorry but if you were going to try and paint him as a sorta bad guy who we were going to dislike or doubt at any given moment you shouldn't have made him even hotter than he was in the Trespasser. Like what am I supposed to do with this?

I love how one moment Taash are a badass warrior, breathing fire, fighting dragons. And the next one they show you the softest most innocent smile at the smallest sign of appreciation and acception. Harding's right, they are really cute.
