"What I may have to do some time, is actually just go to a fabric shop with you. I'm often more inspired by a pattern than anything else. And we can make some really cute sun dresses or two piece outfits that will just... be a little different to what's being sold in stores. I do enjoy being a little different."

"I would absolutely love that," she lit up at the idea of them hitting up the fabric stores together. "I really wish I could take you to the Garment District– I was a regular in a lot of places back there," Piper reminisced on her days back in the streets of New York. "Maybe some time in the future," she shrugged hopefully. 'Sun dress and two piece outfits? We can absolutely craft a bunch of those. I think you'll look stunning in a floral maxi skirt."

"Is this how you usually treat clients or am I a special circumstance?" Silas asked as he found himself weaving in between people. "If anyone who knows us sees this, I'm sure they'll begin to talk." The man joked lightly, seemingly relenting to his fate.

"I find it kind of funny that you say that because honestly this is more my actual job than what I do on a regular basis," Piper explained as he asked her about this. "Most of the time I do like glorified retail work but as a consultant I should be doing more personal shopper stuff anyways," she assured when he seemed to be concerned for this seeming suspicious to an outsider's perspective.

"I think it's 50% belief for me," Cynthia replied, "I also believe you have to work for what you want and wish for. The wish part is a nice addition, though."

"The working hard part makes more sense to me. Of course wishing is nice but, I don't believe you get to where you really want without putting in the work for it," Piper said. "Unless you're like a nepo baby or something."

"You flatter me." Bes spoke with that slightly teasing, flirtatious tone to his voice that a night of alcohol had brought on with even more ease than usual. "There are some things I have every confidence in and that is one of them. I suppose everyone has their off days but I like to think I have always made up for them." Though at her next question he laughed. "Well because I don't think there is anyone else I would rather do this with."

"Won't Mateo get a little jealous? I'm sure he'd expect to be the one who gets to hold prolonged eye contact with you," she teased, wondering why she was letting her mind read into things. It was probably just the alcohol making Bes this way anyways. "But of course, I have trust we can do this too. Neither of us are the type to back down from a challenge after all."

"I think being particular, whilst means that it makes things harder, it means I also only ever allow myself the best in all situations." She liked to think that was why she was still painfully single.

"You certainly don't need me to tell you to never lower your standards for anybody," Piper replied with a soft laugh. "Honestly more people could take a page out of your book. I certainly have tried to do similarly over the years but I think it's come to the point where I've kind of shut any possibilities out. Perhaps I'm a little too protective of myself that it's less about allowing myself the best and more about avoiding everything in fear of it disappointing me."

"Oh please, I know I make a party but so do you," Octavia replied, brushing off the compliment with a small smile, "Yeah, Erin. She's my roommate but now she's more than that. It's... new but it's also not new. I guess the main thing it is is complicated but it's going well now," she explained briefly, her expression softening at the thought of the other woman.

"Complicated or not, as long as if you're happy, it must be worth it," Piper smiled when she listened to Octavia speak about the new developments between her and Erin. "It seems like that's the case so, I say make the most of everything no matter how different it might feel from time to time."

April laughed, "I would say sorry but I guess that was my intention so that you wouldn't do that," she admitted, "That is a good idea. It's a good idea to take a break before you get burned out. Besides, it might refresh your mind with ideas."

"Of course," she laughed along with her. "I can be so bad at taking appropriate breaks and all of that, but I know you're right," Piper sighed a little when it was pointed out to her that it could be a good way to refresh her ideas too.

"Explain to me again where you are dragging me to and why?" Silas asked as he found himself being directed away from where he'd been happy to leisurely spend his time uninterrupted. It seemed the woman had other plans for him however.

"I found some fabulous fabrics that would work for that suit you've commissioned and I wanted to get your take on the options," Piper explained as she guided him along. "There's way too many to choose from but also you'll be the one wearing this so– I just want to make sure we go for something that you'll love."

"True but a shooting star would be an added bonus and far better luck if you believe in that sort of thing," Cynthia replied, "Me too. Hopefully, everything going on can be put to an end. That would be the best New Year's luck."

"If that's really the case, I'll have to take your word on it," Piper shrugged lightly when the other spoke about the power of New Year's luck. "I don't know how much I believe in all of that stuff but, I'll try to hold out hope if people like you seem so sure of it."

"I think that's been your resolution every year, P," she chuckled. "At least since we moved here." Merle however was pretty content with her circle of people now, she'd never been one to let a lot of people into her inner circle. "Not so I can torment guys on your behalf? Aw. That was fun," she teased.

"Alright, no need to call me out like that," Piper snorted in response. She was definitely always trying to branch out but admittedly the dark-haired girl tended to stick to safer and familiar ground. Socially she didn't feel she was lacking but perhaps branching out would be beneficial to her networking-wise. "I mean... that was fun. Maybe we could do a night where we redownload the apps just to do that. It sounds like a good time to me."

"I mean storing facts is great, but only really if they are any use. A lot of them happen to be really bloody useless." Bes admitted with a laugh, not seeming too upset about that despite what his words were saying. His timing on giving them appeared to be impeccable though, and he was lucky that Piper had not began drinking given her surprise at his second factoid. It left him chuckling in amusement. "I mean, I'm not too concerned. I have a hard time believing that it could ever be that bad for me but I'm not about to tempt fate as it were." He grinned playfully in her direction. "I am sure we can too, that's in part why I chose you."

"But never short of impressive," Piper insisted with a smile when he'd claimed that some of his facts were useless. She didn't always remember all of them but she certainly alway enjoyed hearing things she would've never even thought to look up. "So humble," she teased when Bes expressed how he wasn't too concerned about the superstition affecting his sex life. Piper readjusted her grip on the flute and quirked a brow at him at his further point. "In part?" she echoed in a manner that implied the inquiry of more information.

"I'm not, it's for some lady in my office." Erin clarified. "But I'm sober, and I don't think that keeping a bottle of wine in my room is going to help me stay that way." She shrugged. "Ooh, I can knit? Do you think she'd appreciate a beanie? Or maybe a mug warmer?"

"Oh– I see. Well then I can totally understand," she nodded, admittedly a little weary of saying the wrong thing. "That sounds like a fabulous idea. People love when things are personalized like that," Piper encouraged. "I'm sure she'll love it."

"Of course, it's me. Who else would be wearing these fabulous shoes?" Octavia replied, grinning as she reached out to place a kiss on both of the woman's cheeks in greeting, "Bonne année, Piper!"

"You make a great point," Piper grinned back brightly, kissing Octavia's cheek in turn. "Seems like this is one of the good parties then if I see you here. I trust that wherever you are in attendance, it's certainly a good sign. Have you come here tonight with anybody?"

"Super nice. We got really lucky with the weather for fireworks," Cynthia said with a smile, "Ooh, that would be cool. I don't think I've ever seen a shooting star before but we can definitely get priority for the fireworks."

"I suppose counting on the fireworks is more reliable than the probability of a shooting star," Piper considered with a chuckle. "I guess I'm just trying to get my luck wherever I can. I want this to be a good year."

"Oh hey," Pippa smiled brightly as she approached the bar and spotted a familiar face, "Happy New Year!" she exclaimed over the music, "How are you?"

"Hi– Happy New Year," she acknowledged the other with a friendly smile. "I'm doing well, thank you. Excited for what kind of feels like a fresh slate even if it is all a bit of placebo. How about yourself?"

"I think you may be shooting yourself in the foot there, Pip." Bes admitted because there was no way she could possibly do everything. "But that's a topic for another day." He held out an arm to the woman as she came out of the door. "There is a nice little Italian place I know of that I haven't been to in a while if you're up for it. A good hearty meal on a night as cold as this is recommended."

"Maybe," Piper let fall from her lips reluctantly when he'd warned her in a friendly manner about taking on everything. "That sounds amazing," she happily took the change in topic as she took his offered arm. "I think a beautiful bowl of pasta and a glass of wine is exactly what I need right now."
