It’s the 4th of July weekend and your husband Jake thought it would be fun for your daughter Sparrow to experience her first 4th in Frankenmuth surrounded by family. You had been in town for a few days leading up to spend some much needed time with the Kiszka clan and of course the Wagners because once news got out you were going “home” the rest wanted to join.
The big day comes and the Kiszka house is filled with not just people but full of laughter and music “Danny , Sammy I love you but can your conversation not happen in the kitchen ?” You asked slightly annoyed as they leaned against the counter where you were helping prep lunch.
“Oh come on Y/N you can’t work around us by now ?” Sammy teases before pushing Danny towards the back door. “Oh see I would Samual but you’re taking up the last of the counter space” you giggled rolling your eyes at his sass.
Once you’re back to work Jake walks over holding Sparrow on his hip “Watch up babe someone has sticky fingers “
You looked up from your cutting board and sure enough your daughter is covered in what you assume is strawberry juice “Oh my yea I’d say so come here sticky girl let’s get you cleaned up“ She giggles as you take her from your husband kissing the top of her head.
“I’d say the strawberries didn’t stand a chance“ Jake says through a light laugh as you wash her hands off “Against this one? No they did not she’s just like her mommy she loves her fruit. Right silly girl?“ you asked her directing your attention to her face as you wiped clean earning you a slight fuss and a cute nose wrinkle.
It’s moments like that she looks the most like her daddy. She was a perfect mix of the two of you but definitely favored the Kiszka looks more. She has your eyes but the rest is Jake right down to the attitude.
“Why don’t you go relax with her love I’ll finish getting stuff ready” he says leaning over to kiss your head as you pick her back up off the counter “Yea it about time for her nap if she’s going to make it though fireworks tonight” leaning over you give him one last kiss before joining Josh and Papa K in the living room.
“There’s my little Sparrow want to come lay with me?” Papa K asked as she slides her way down your side to get to him “She’s all yours just a little less sticky” you giggled slightly watching her lay against him almost immediately falling asleep.
Josh pats the couch beside him for you to sit “Hey mama come, sit, relax” he gives you that bright contagious smile as you sit down “Gladly thank you Joshie.” He rest his arm
Behind your head as you sat back. “Where’s the time gone? she’s getting so big” you asked as both of you sigh watching her sleep soundly “Right! shes almost a year old. You guys are amazing parents she’s already so smart, funny , but boy does she have Jake’s attitude that girl is sassy”
You giggle slightly “You’re telling me just this morning she crawled out of the bathroom and down the hall to avoid her getting her hair brushed then got mad when Jake stopped her from her escape” “That sounds about right darling she’s a Kiszka after all“ Papa K chimes in quietly not to wake her.
After lunch/dinner everyone split ways to get cleaned up and ready for the nights festivities. You were up in the guest room at the house getting Sparrow changed and into her cute American flag dress. Her hair now pulled into a fresh ponytail with a red bow “Look at you star spangled cutie” sitting her on the bed with Jake she watches you as you got changed.
You opted for denim shorts and red cropped t shirt before pulling your hair into a messy bun “you look good baby” Jake whispers as he snakes his arm around your waist kissing the crook of your neck “mm thank you my love” you slide you hand over his as you looks at your reflection in the mirror admiring him as he held you in one arm and Sparrow on the other.
She was playing with the medallions Jake always wears causing him to look down at her “Doesn’t mommy look pretty little bird ?” She looks up at you with the necklaces in full grip and a wide smile on her face “Mommy pretty !” She squeals shaking Jake’s necklaces in the process “Ok ok yes mommy’s pretty let’s not chock daddy though yeah?” he releases her grip and holds her hand before glancing back up at you hearing you snicker.
“I could’ve died you know?” He gives you a very unserious frown “Oh calm down wouldn’t have died a black eye maybe but died. And they say Josh is the dramatic one“ you pulled away from his arm so you can turn to face him placing a soft kiss on his pouting lips “I promise you’ll be ok now let’s head back down before they send the search party.”
Before you could walk away he was pulling you in for another kiss this time deeper and deliberate. “Still could’ve died“ he whispers again your lips. Pushing his chest with a playful roll of your eyes you giggled before heading out of the room . “Come on drama queen”
“Dama Keen!” You hear Sparrow Parrot back causing you to gutturally laugh “Hey now watch little girl or tickle monster going to get ya “ she squeals as his fingers attack her little belly. “Come on you two”
The three of you walk out the back sliding door to a beautifully decorated backyard. Adorned with fairy lights and holiday decorations. Danny is getting the fireplace set for s’mores while Sammy and Josh set up the fireworks for the display.
“you want a drink babe?” “Oo yes please surprise me” you replied as you sit in a lawn chair holding Sparrow as she plays with you hands. She looks at you and the her big doe eyes “mommy daddy go?” Now looking around unable to pin point where he went “he will be right back sweet girl don’t worry.”
Kissing the top of her head she lays forward agaisnt you lightly sucking her thumb which was quickly replaced with her pacifier. Her little eyes laser focused as she watches Danny walk over “Hey little bird want to come help me with the marshmallows?” He kneels down to her level and rubs her back. She slightly shakes her head and grips into your shirt “we are waiting for daddy to come back” “Ah I see! Very important business there little bird I’ll leave you be” he gives you a little wink as he kisses her head.
“DADDY!!” she squeals sitting straight up as he walks over.
“SPARROW!” Jake returns as he sets your drinks down. Before she knows it she up on his shoulders giggling as loud her body will let her. “Come on momma do my want to miss the Kiszka Firework Spectacular”
“I have say this will be the best display to date !” Sammy exclaimed “oh for sure! First 4th back in a while you gotta go big !” Josh replied as he set up the last box “And with that we are ready to roll !”
“I know they know what they’re doing but they scare me sometimes” you said through a laugh walking over to stand beside your husband and daughter. “Oh you should be scared do you not remember the year we all pointed Roman candles at each other as they went off?” Shaking your head you fix sparrows dress over her diaper cover. “How could I forget ?”
“No one went to the hospital that was a plus” Danny chimed in walking over to get a viewing spot. “Oh my goodness little bird you got so tall! You’re almost taller than me” he says looking at her as she giggles pointing at him “DANNYYYY!!” “LITTLE BIRD!!” He echos back grabbing her foot as the dangle off of Jake’s shoulder. “You’re so stinking cute” giving her foot a gentle squeeze before sitting in his chair.
“Did you grab her headphones?” “Sure did here you go” you go take them from him but instead of releasing them he pulls you in for a soft kiss “mm you taste nice “ he smirks against your lips before releasing the headphones. “ooo you’re sneaky” he gave you a playful smirk as you pulled away slipping the headphones over her ears.
She smiles down at you fairy lights reflecting in her eyes as she turns her attention back to her uncles “Are you ready Sparrow?!” Josh yelled from the firework set up. She kicks her legs in Jake’s grip “She’s ready let’s light em up!” Jake shouts out in response.
Josh lights a few fuses in a well timed manner before rushing over to stand with the family. As the first one pops off both you and Jake look up to watch Sparrow’s face “HHH mommy ook” she points up at the sky. “I see them baby” placing your hand in the small of her back smiling as Jake brings you further into his side. “I think she loves it” he whispers as you nuzzle your head into his shoulder.
“She is a Kiszka after all I would expect anything less” you both laughed as she giggles over you watching the array of colors and sounds each one made as they went off.
“I think Josh bought sparklers to end the night. She will love those” Jake said softly bringing her down off his shoulder to his hip. “ I sure did ! A nice quiet way to end the night sparklers for everyone !” As the display came to an end Josh passes them out giving spare get own.
You decide to step back and admire your little family as Jake lights the sparkler Sparrow has firmly grasped in her little hand. “Hold it out far baby girl” He helps her as eyes widen watching the sparks fly out infront of them. The light reflecting on their faces as Jake watches her in sheer awe. “It’s sparkles just like you do baby girl” nuzzling his nose into her cheek causing her to giggle. “Wuv oo daddy”
Kissing the top of her head he whispers “I love you too Sparrow. Happy 4th of July…Little star spangled cutie”
