My opinion on "popular clothes"

After experiencing the "prom season" and also going through fashion blogs as well as just talking with friends, I've really thought about the concept of not getting an item of clothing just because someone has a similar piece and/or the same one. 

On one hand, I understand this feeling - you want to be original! And that's totally acceptable. But it also has this feeling of "I'm not dressing for myself." What I mean is - if an item of clothing is appealing to me, it shouldn't (and doesn't) matter whether or not I saw someone (or many people) wearing the same exact or similar thing. Dressing is about expression and how you want to present yourself, it's completely individual regardless of how many other people have that same piece.

Of course, there is a higher possibility for awkward we're wearing the same thing dilemmas, but that's not the end. 

I guess this topic comes up because I was not able to purchase the oh-so-popular asymmetrical wrap skort from Zara last year, and when I went to Forever 21 yesterday, I found it at a relatively cheap price and in colors that I wanted! And so, of course, I went a bit crazy and bought 3. I am that in love with it. There are people, however, that have the same exact (from H&M or Zara) skort. That did not deter me from buying them, because I personally love it so much. And I'm not buying it to be compared with or to emulate their fashion, I'm doing it for myself. 

Anyways, mini rant over, I'll have a little clothing haul with those in them soon (Wednesday at earliest), and I'll talk to you soon! 

Tl;dr: You dress for yourself, not for the rest of the world.

Haululululul: Months ago + recently

Hey guys - sorry for the MIAness that always seems to happen right after I'm like I GOT THIS SHIT I'M GONNA POST ON TIME but yeah.

I've been spending $$$ lately which means haul time~ It's pretty short, only a couple of items, but reviews shall follow! 

I also bought some clothes recently but uhm that'll wait for another day. When I have more. Maybe I'll do a what's in my closet thing~

Review: L'Oreal Infallible Super Slim

Hey guys!! This is a review I've been putting off for f o r e v e r and I seriously apologize, but I think that because I've been using this product for months now I'm better informed about the product.

And by better informed I mean that I have more things to nitpick. 

But before I start talking about alllll the random things that I want to talk about, let's get started!! 

Honestly, one of the biggest factors in me buying this product is the packaging. As is apparent in my big collective eyeliner review that I did a while ago, I do not like felt tip liners. They are the bane of my existence. And yet...I bought one. And, as you will see, I love it. 

But anyways, back to the packaging. It's so thin and sleek, thinner even than some of the pens I own. And the gold on the shiny and matte black is really appealing. So A+++ for packaging. It really embodies the idea of super slim that they're advertising. 

I was very very very pleasantly surprised by this eyeliner. I don't like felt tip liners because I feel like I have less control over it and it never makes quite the precise and thin line that I want - but this eyeliner is wonderful.

First of all, the line that it creates is really as thin as you want it to be, and you can build it up to be thicker. Thinner lines means less mess and less chance to make too thick of a line. I can go for super minimal single lines if I'm feeling it, or I can make it thicker like I usually do.

Because it's so thin, I can also really easily make a point on my winged eyeliner, which is usually the reason that other felt tip liners make me mad.

The other thing I like about this eyeliner is that it's really pigmented. It's not a faint black, it's a very strong and bold black, which, if that's what you're looking for, it delivers. 

I've also had this eyeliner for a while now (since I did the haul where I got this, which was definitely in at least October...late October/early November? Not sure....) and the quality of the applicator is the same as when I first opened it. Usually when you get pen liners, the felt tip part starts to wear out (the same way that markers do) after a little while, but this one has held up really well and I'm really impressed.  I find myself reaching for this eyeliner every day because it's simply so easy and quick, just 2 to 3 minutes to apply, and it's fine for the whole day. 

There's one tiny little caveat, because nothing's perfect. When I say "fine for the whole day" I mean it doesn't rub off easily, but sometimes I find that after a particularly long day and I come home at 5 or 6 ish (after leaving my house at 7, so anywhere between 10-12 hours after applying), some of it will transfer to your lower lash line. It's not horrible, it's definitely not that noticeable, and super easy to just wipe off with your fingers or a wet paper towel. Just something to note. 

First Application that's just a single stroke, so you can really see how dark the line is. I'm not sure if you can tell from this picture specifically, but the line is really precise (but there's that bleeding effect on my wrist that doesn't happen on your eyes, sorry!) 

Rubbing you can see that this product is mostly smudge proof. You can tell that there are some smudges, and the product is a little faded. But the line does not disappear nor do you get really dark raccoon eyes if you rub your eyes by accident. 

Under warm water for ~1 min water alone does not make the eyeliner run, so I would say it's semi-waterproof. I don't know many instances where you would douse yourself in water in everyday life, (unless you're going to the beach - don't wear this to the beach) so even if you're caught in heavy heavy heavy downpour (oh yes, it's happened) you should be fine and you won't be all streaky. Or if you cry. It won't get everywhere (also has happened LOL).

Post water rubbing well, now you can see this is where the product really starts to wear off. But even though the product starts to be rubbed away, there's still the line from the eyeliner. I can't imagine why you would rub your eyes really hard after having a soaked face, so that's why I'm saying this is semi waterproof rather than not waterproof at all. 

Rubbing with paper towel even after all that abuse, rubbing it off with tissue paper didn't make it completely come off - which is good and bad I guess. This means that it's extra work to take off your eyeliner at the end of the day - but if you have a face washing routine there should be no problems (makeup remover and facewash almost always does the trick for me). If you don't have makeup remover, however, you can see that the area around the eyeliner is a little red and irritated because it took a lot to rub it off at least partially.

(note! neither of these things are really an issue, because the transfer is super slight and not really noticeable, and the irritation is easily dealt with by cleaning your face properly)

I think I've raved about it enough, but honestly I love love love this packaging. So sleek and clean and minimal.

Formula ♡♡♡♡♡

Long lasting and pigmented - really lived up to its name I would say, which is really surprising. 

Overall ♡♡♡♡♡

Seriously. It's that good. I'll definitely be repurchasing it. There's a lot to love about this product, and it's really so simple to use. Effortless.

Tutorial: Everyday Makeup

(lol this was a picture I took by accident cuz I was trying to take the first picture, but then it was on a timer, so I just flipped it around really quick to face the mirror LOLOL WHATEVER) 

Hey guys! So I finally have a set routine ish when it comes to doing my makeup on days where I want to look slightly nicer than just eyeliner, but also not anything too drastic. 

(I skipped base makeup because on this particular day I was sleeping over a friend's, and I didn't think I would be washing my face so I didn't want all that gunk on my face) 

OKAY ONWARDS -

I tried to make it so you could see the product's name but LOL here are some links for reviews/etc with them in it (I'll be putting up a review for the eyeliner soon btw, so I'll link that when I get around to it!!!) 

eyeshadow | eyeliner | lipbalm | lip tint 

(Apologies in advance for different lighting/brightness idk why this happened I took all these pictures in my bathroom LOL)

For eyeshadow, as you can see, I used the pop i-love cocoa palette thing that I linked above. For this tutorial, we're only using 2 colors! A pale pink glitter base (1) and a burgundy/brown/copper with subtle shimmers (2). 

Before I even start with my eyes, and after I do my base makeup (which I didn't do, as I said before) I would apply lip balm so by the time I get to lip stuff, my lips are hydrated! 

Apply the shimmery pink base all over your eye and blend it. I particularly like this eyeshadow because you can't really see it, but it provides some glitter on my eyes. For me this shade is sort of "nude" (but not really). 

Take 2 and apply it on the outer thirds of your eye and blend inwards. This provides your eye with some depth, and because it's only on the outer third it's not overwhelming. It should blend with the pink base. 

(these pictures turned out really dark, not sure why. The eyeshadow's really not that dark.) 

With the eyeliner, draw a single line from your lower lashline outwards. This provides a guideline for your eyeliner. Of course, you can always stop here if you want a more minimalistic look. (note: it kind of looks like I lined my entire top lash, but I didn't! it's just the tiny little extension line at the very end). 

Then, draw a line from about halfway on your upper lid to connect with the previously drawn line. This can be as thick or as thin as you want, and don't worry about the empty space. This just makes it easier for you to visualize your eyeliner. 

Fill in the gap. Obviously, fill in the empty space between your lash line and your eyeliner. Don't worry about messing up, because you can always fix it later with a q-tip. 

I fixed it so that the point was sharper, and if you can see, it left a little streak where I rubbed it. I personally liked it, because it made it look more smoky and softer, but you can always wipe that off for a sharper look. 

Repeat on the other eye and you're done! 

It's a pretty simple look and very subtle, which I like. It's not overly obvious that you're wearing eyeshadow, but it's a little shimmery and fancier than a simple eyeline. 

After I finish my eyes, I put one swipe of the lip tint on my lips. I didn't want to put more than one because then it would be red, which was too strong for the look I was trying to achieve.

Sorry guys I was hoping that once the new year rolled around I would have a lot of time to post, but it turns out that I didn't.

I'm working on saving up money so I can go buy new things to review, since it's been a while since I did a review. And maybe I'll muster up some motivation to do a makeup tutorial or something.

Since i've got a new camera that I showed in the last post, I've since set up a [new] youtube account that - once I actually post something and get that all done - will be linking here! For the time being, those will be vlogs/life videos, with maybe a sprinkling of hauls and OOTDs. I need to learn how to edit videos. 

Sorry for the inactivity though!! I'll definitely work on changing that once I finish this big thing for school.

NX2000!!!!

heyheyhey! So since Best Buy was being really difficult and ridiculous, my mom and I canceled my order for the NX2000 - but we found a great deal on Amazon for the same camera! Thus this post. Link to the camera is here, if you want to take advantage of this crazy good deal like I'm so serious I sound so cheesy but this deal was literally that amazing.

Interview 101!

So, luckily/unluckily for me I’ve had 2 interviews in the past two days. One was a college interview and the other was a job interview. Since I just had these interviews, I thought it would be a good idea to just generally throw out some tips that I use to calm me down/prepare myself as well as give examples of typical questions.

It’s also important to note that these two interviews, while similar, are very different, and you should treat them as such. It also depends on where you’re interviewing and specifically what you’re interviewing for. For example, an interview at an Ivy League college is going to be different from a mid-level college, and an interview for a law firm will be different from that of an aquarium.

To start off, here are some general tips about interviews.

 Never just wing it. And I mean never. It’s blatantly obvious when you don’t know what you’re interviewing for, and you look unprofessional. It’s awkward. Take at least 10 minutes looking up wherever you’re interviewing for and pinpoint a few specific things to remember. Your interviewer doesn’t expect you to be an expert, but you want to make it evident that you care enough about this interview/job/acceptance/etc. to take time and look it up.

 Always dress appropriately. Now, this depends on where you’re interviewing. Like I said, when you’re interviewing for a more prestigious institution, you want to look nicer than if you’re trying to get a job at Starbucks. When in doubt, suit up (figuratively). It’s better to be overdressed than to be underdressed. In the same vein, dress your age. If you’re 16, they’re not expecting you to be decked out in a tight bun and high ass heels and a dress suit. Remember that you’re trying to impress them, so dress more or less modestly. You don’t want to be fidgeting in a too short skirt or a tight ass top. By all means, dress however you feel most comfortable (in professional clothes), but understand that there’s a certain etiquette involved.

 Get there 5-10 minutes early. This seems self explanatory enough, but you never know. In fact, plan enough time ahead so that you’re leaving 5-10 minutes early from your house so that you arrive 5-10 minutes early to the location. You really can never be too careful.

 Answer the question. It's easy to get off topic when you're talking, but remember to not stray too far off what's actually being asked. They're asking questions for a reason. Make sure you answer them. 

 My most important general tip is to treat every interview as a conversation, not an interrogation. There is nothing more attractive to an employer than someone who seems personable (and qualified), and can genuinely get excited talking about something. These interviewers are not out to get you. They’re trying to assess your qualifications for the job, and part of that is if you can hold a conversation. Find your niche. Don’t be I formal, but have a conversation with your interviewer. Interviews are only as difficult as you make them.

 Finally, not a tip but just something to remember - an interview does not asses your worth as a person. Getting rejected from a job or a college or a program does not mean you are an overall unqualified person. It just means you’re not perfect for the job - and that’s fine. I know this is a hard thing to believe in practice (god knows I cries my eyes out when I got rejected), but there are other options. So don’t give up!

As for common questions, these are some questions you should have generally some idea of how you will answer:

The dreaded "Tell me about yourself." - this question, while seemingly impossible, is actually a gift. It's an open invitation to talk about whatever /you/ want. It's your chance to make a connection and steer the conversation. Go over the basics, name, age, school, etc. And then pick something you really enjoy and is part of your personality, and just talk! Be sure that it's appropriate, however, and don't ramble. They don't need your unabridged life story.

How will you contribute to this ______? - insert whatever you like. Community, work environment, college, whatever.

What are you hoping to get out of this experience?

Why are you a good fit for ______?

How did you hear about this _____/why are you interested? 

Also, ask a question. Prepare a question that shows that you're interested in knowing more. Maybe it's about the job, or a facility at college, or whatever. If it's a college interviewer, ask for their contact information.

Take all these tips with a grain of salt, of course - what works for me might not work for you! You will get better at interviewing; it's just something that takes practice.

Winter Essentials!

I figured I would do this post it’s really started to become super cold here, with weather in the 30s almost every day. I’ll do the more beauty related stuff first and then go into like…everyday junk LOLOL cuz I just want to talk about things I like.

 Scarves/Jackets/All that wonderful junk 

This is pretty much a given. Stay warm. Stay cozy. Yah. You really should have a couple of coats for different weather types. A windbreaker won’t help you much when it’s freezing outside and a cute but non waterproof jacket won’t help you when there’s a storm. Just saying. 

Also remember to buy coats that you really really like because coats, since (depending on where you live) you only use it one(?) season a year, will last a long time. There’s no point in buying an expensive jacket that you won’t like year after year. Get timeless pieces, not trendy ones. 

 Lotion 

I hate gloves. That’s probably really bad, but hey, I just like having the full functionality of my fingers. In any case, this means that I have really dry hands. I remedy this by always always always carrying lotion with me. My absolute favorite, embarrassingly enough, are the little sample bottles you get at like Hilton garden hotels - they're like rainwater or rainforest something? They're sold at either Bath and Bodyworks or The Body Shop but I'm not sure.

Okay. They smell REALLY good. And they're in convenient little bottles that are perfect for when you're going out, you don't need to carry an entire freaking bottle. And I have a ton of them. Smells so good. 

 Hydration Packs

For the same reason that you want lotion, you're probably going to want to get some ~nightly hydration packs~ I have the Aqua Drop one from the Face Shop and I just put it on as the last step before I go to sleep. It's more liquidy/moisturizing than lotion, so I just go to bed and wake up with a moisturized face~ It prevents my face from drying out while I sleep. 

Sometimes in the morning after I wash my face, if my face is for some reason extra dry, I wear it and pat it into my face, then wait for it to settle/dry/whatever before putting on foundation/cc cream/base makeup. It really makes a difference because if your skin is dry, it'll be noticeable if you wear base makeup that isn't necessarily hydrating. 

 Lipbalm/Chapstick

How many times can I say dry in this post. Yes. Once again, winter dries out your lips. Get chapstick and wear it obsessively. Especially before you go to bed and after you put on base makeup so that by the time you get to your lips they're all moisturized.

Personally I don't like oily lip balms/chapsticks/etc. because I don't think it looks appealing? Maybe they have more moisturizing properties, but that's just my personal opinion.

My current favorite is Mongo's Honey Vanilla lip balm~ (which was in my favorites post here) 

 Plum/Berry/Dark Lipsticks

Since not everyone is all rahrah cute bright colors anymore, it's the perfect time to mellow out the shades on your lips. The deep plums and berries and wines go perfect with winter when the weather is colder. 

As previously said, buy a lipbalm to wear before wearing lipsticks because it'll be very noticeable if your lips are dry, unless your lipstick is super hydrating (and even then). Another option for winter, or during the holiday season, are reds. All kinds of reds, bright reds, darker reds, everything. All fair game. 

 Sunscreen 

What? Sunscreen? Yes. Sunscreen. The fact is, the sun hasn’t really gone anywhere. Sure, we don’t get tan in the winter and it’s definitely not as hot out as it is in the summer - but the harmful UV rays are still there. Thus, we should wear sunscreen year round. 

The problem with sunscreen is that, usually, it contains a lot of oil. There are oil-free products which should do the trick, but in general a tip about sunscreen and excess oil is to invest in blotting papers. After applying sunscreen on your skin (which should be before base makeup/foundation/concealer/yaddayadda), just blot out the extra oil in your face. And if blotting papers seems like throwing away money, a cheap (but probably less effective), alternative is to take 1ply toilet paper and press it against your face to remove extra oil. I always do this after applying sunscreen and foundation to prevent oil from blocking my pores. If it’s still giving off some unseemly shine, just use powder to lock everything in. 

Now for less legit things. 

 Hot Chocolate/Tea/Coffee 

Tis the season for warm drinks guys, embrace it. 

 Thick Tights

This is pretty self explanatory - you still want to wear skirts without freezing your butt off? This is the way to go. For winter I like ribbed stockings/tights because it gives a slightly more casual feel, as well as being super toasty and having the effect of making your legs look longer. 

You should also get tights that aren't sheer but maybe aren't ribbed to wear under skinny jeans/any pants in case it gets super cold. Kind of like long johns. Without being long johns. 

 Books 

Maybe this is just for the book nerd in me, but there are tons of times when I just want to cozy up with a book and drink my warm drink and kinda just not worry about anything. 

 Or if you're not a book person, or even if you are, a collection of tv shows/movies/etc. to watch and kill time with.

Product Comparison/Reviews~

Hey guys, so I've been super busy lately and I've been putting this off for forever and a half, but I think it's finally time.

Lipgloss/non-lipstick-lip-products-what-is-this reviews~ 

BUT before I get into the good stuff, tomorrow I'm adding a new baby to my family of cameras =u= I got the Samsung NX2000 from Best Buy for Cyber Monday~ I wanted a point and shoot-ish camera, but it still has interchangeable lenses. I got it for the Eastern Europe trip that I'm taking in April with school, buuuuut since I have it..I might start making vlogs? Don't know yet. We'll see. More on that when I actually get the camera and figure everything out. 

These are the 3 lippies that I will be reviewing today, but not in that order LOLOL. Whoops. First up....

FaceShop Lovely me:ex I Love Pure Color in Celeb Pink

I'm going to be totally honest. I bought this because it was super cute. I mean look at that packaging!!! It's adorable and the color is just so cute oh my god. Buuuuuut then I actually tried to use it. 

The wand itself is nothing special, and I still really liked the color when I saw it on the wand but....the smell is overpowering. Maybe I'm exaggerating? But I don't like strong smells, especially ones that are on makeup and thus I have to deal with them even if I dislike it because I like the product. 

So that definitely dissuades me from using it a lot, because I get sick of the smell so easily and it makes me lightheaded. I might get used to it if I use it more often but...yeah. There's a definite contradiction in there. 

As far as formula it's not my favorite either, so there's that. It's goopy and thick and just overall isn't super pleasant. BUT IT'S SO CUTE.

It's a cute baby pink ish color that doesn't wash out on me so I like it~ I barely ever use it though. It's also not a winter-y color unless I was going like...super innocent wow look at me I'm a baby. Idk. Maybe I'll use it more when it's cold so the smell isn't as bad (lol jokes wait no it's not) 

Overall Rating: ♡♡ 

I feel bad giving such a cute product such a low rating, but the fact is that I don't use this...like at all. It just looks cute. And the smell/formula isn't great either ;n; 

Additionally, in the bottle (even if you can't see it), it looks kinda holographic and has tiny little glitters, but it just shows up as straight up pink on my lips which I guess is fine, but it's not really what I was hoping for. :< 

It gets 2 hearts for having cute packaging and being a cute color though /sigh/

Next is The FaceShop Lovely me:ex Jelly Tint 

The packaging is seriously so cute. It's really sleek and clean, and sturdy. It doesn't seem to be cheap, and the top part has little white shimmers and eek so adorable, right?! And I like how it's clear so that you can see the color inside. 

The applicator is a doe foot applicator, like both other lip glosses. 

As for color, on me it's a sheer pink color. 

I like this lip gloss more than the last one, since it's less thick and doesn't have that same smell. Plus, this one is more hydrating than it. 

However, the problem I have with this is that since it more or less looks like my lip color ish, it just makes my lips look sort of oily? I have to blot it, or use a tiny bit in the center of lips over a lipstick or something~ 

Overall Rating: ♡♡♡

Everything about this product is cute, from it's packaging to it's color. It's a little thick, however, and not very useful if it's very similar to my lip color. I don't use it often enough to call it a 4, but maybe I'll change that when I start to use it more (if I ever do). I'm still getting used to the feel of lipglosses, I'm sure if I spent a long period of time wearing them, I'd get used to it. 

It's really hydrating, btw, so I do like it. A lot. It's just sticky for a while as well. 

Finally, last but not least

Liptini Lip Tint in Soco

Frankly, I'm a little disappointed with this packaging. Maybe I've been spoiled by Korean makeup products, but this was flimsy and cracked in 2 spots on the cap so it doesn't fully seal when it's closed. 

It's plastic and not sturdy and I originally liked its simplicity, but meh. 

Fortunately for this product, I really do (mostly) love it. It's a bright coral color that I often substitute for red lipstick. It's lighter and lasts longer since it's a tint - I don't have to worry about smudging or having to reapply during the day, and if I do it's only like once.

I guess because it's a tint the formula is more watery than sticky like lip gloss. It's long lasting and has a really nice color payoff. I can apply it sheerly or go darker or do the gradient lip or whatever~ I really do like it. 

One more thing to note about this product - it's really drying. I don't know what it is about it, but it dries out my lips so I have to wear lip balm a couple of minutes before, and after it dries. It's not that bad, but it's drying.

Plus...it burns? I'm not sure what it is, and it's not like it has alcohol...but what? I'm not really sure why this is, but it burns for like a second when I first apply it and then it goes away. But I would say if you have cracked lips don't buy this product. It'll hurt so so so much.

Overall: ♡♡♡♡

I would have given this a 5, but the cracks in the packaging and the drying/burning effect knocked it down to a 4. 

Seriously though, I really like this product. It's really good, and I'm probably going to purchase more colors soon (I'm so broke).

In the past like 3 ish days I've been really into wearing my hair in a messy bun; it's mostly because I slept over my sister's dorm and my hair was kind of gross and I just wanted it out of my face, but it turned out pretty good? Makeup wise I've been keeping it pretty simple, usually just winged eyeliner and my Sugar Plum No.7 Lipstick because it's a mellow-er fall color. As it gets closer to Christmas I'm probably going to start wearing my red lipstick again huhuhu =u= Yup that's all~ 

This is a really short post, but yeah, I felt bad that I haven't uploaded anything in a while.

Birthday (Pt.1): OOTD!

Hey guys~~ Sooooo, it was my birthday last Thursday, Nov. 14th! I'm finally 17! 

There's really like. Not much you can do at 17 though LOL legally you can do at 17, except for buy rated R tickets for yourself. BUT EVEN THEN you need an ID that says you're 17...and I don't have one. My school ID doesn't say my birthday and just says 16 on it, since that's the age I started with OTL. 

Anyways, on my birthday, my mom went crazy with the pictures (we really enjoyed ourselves), so I ended up with like 100+ pictures...of myself. Yep, that's that.

There will be a Pt. 2 to this post, since I just wanted to make this an OOTD post. It will be a presents thing (also since I don't have all of them yet I wanted to wait) 

I might put a ~life~ part under the cut, so that if it's not interesting then you can just skip it. Anyways~ On to the actual post!

I got this dress from H&M like last Spring, when I was looking for dressier clothes. It's really short and seethrough, however, so I layered a skirt on top of it so it just looked like a lace top~

Like I said, layered on top of the dress for a different effect. I really wanted to step out of my comfort zone on my birthday, since I usually stick with solid colors instead of patterns and textures. I think that the top and bottom look good together because the texture on the top is very subtle. 

Outer: Cardigan from Uniqlo

My mom handed me this cardigan and it's really soft. I just wanted something solid to bring the whole thing together, plus it had to be a dark brown to match my shoes.

Shoes: Boots from Macy's

I got these shoes on sale at Macy's a couple of weekends ago and omg I am obsessed. They're perfect. And the sale + the card + the coupon made it only $57! Isn't that crazy?! They're really comfortable and durable, and they give me height without being too hard to walk in~ They're perfect.

So actually, my birthday was kind of shitty. I got into a fight with my mom and meh. It was okay.

On Friday, however, I hung out with a couple of friends and we just sat on the roof and drank a bit (yes, I know). It was really just chill. We ended up talking a lot about life and people. 

Oh and before that I went and got Mixx and put a ton of junk food on it LOL I don't like frozen yogurt, but having vanilla and cheesecake froyo with like chocolate sauce and cheesecake bits and fruity pebbles and bunch of other random stuff on it was A+++++. Then we went and got Panda Express because yum. 

ANYWAYS

One of them got drunk and it was actually super funny (thankfully it was only her). It was really nice seeing her let loose like that. Also I got to talk to someone a lot and since then it's kind of been more interesting to talk to them. More responsive and all that. 

I really just enjoyed Friday a lot, especially since it's been the first time in a while that I've "celebrated" my birthday. I hope I get to hang out with the same group again soon heehee ^^

Skincare: Why it's important and nightly routine

Note: Pictureless Post - there would be too many things to take photos of and it doesn't really add to the post in any way. I may put links for some of the products I use. 

I was having a conversation with my friend and it came up that sometimes we fall asleep with makeup on. 

I know this happens to everyone - sometimes we just doze off without realizing it and bam it's the next morning. So of course, those nights aside, we should always put effort into trying to get our makeup off. If that means coming hope and wiping down, then so be it - because it's necessary.

Why?

When you don't wash your face, all the dirt that got into your pores stays there, and it fills your pores and eventually that's how pimples form (abridged version obviously). With makeup, however, since you're actively adding dirt and sebum and all those other things in our makeup products, you'll break out faster - sometimes over night. So while you should always wash your face, it's especially important where you wear makeup - even more so if you're using foundation and concealer and other products of the like. 

As for me, I've gotten to the point where I don't break out that often, and if I do it's usually because of hormonal things when I'm on the period devil. So I figured I'd make a post detailing what I do for my night time skin routine, which is almost the same as my morning routine. (In this order, I'm not using numbers because some things are optional and it would just get confusing just kidding not really I just didn't like it  ) 

 Make Up Remover 

The FaceShop Phyto Powder in Cleansing Cream - Pomegranate | Often times we think face wash is enough. Well, it's not. Make up remover is specifically designed to removeall the unk that is in our make up, while face wash is to, obviously, wash your face. That face wash only works effectively when all of your makeup is gone - thus makeup remover. 

 Exfoliator 

The FaceShop Peeling Day - Water in Pomegranate | After removing makeup, you want to prep your skin for the ~face washing~, and even if your makeup is removed, you want to make sure that there are no dead skin cells blocking your pores. So exfoliate exfoliate exfoliate! 

 Face Wash

The FaceShop HERBDAY 365 - Peach or Mung Bean or The FaceShop Rice Water Bright | Here comes the best part. When your face feels REALLY clean. Pick your favorite face wash and wash away. Except just kidding, there are certain things you may want to keep in mind.

Before actually applying any of the facewash to your face, rinse your face with lukewarm water first a couple of times to open up your pores so that you can fully absorb the effects of the face wash. 

When dispensing the facewash, just use a pea size. That's more than enough product. Still, apply generously around your face. Don't scrub too hard, you don't want to irritate your skin. 

Wash out with the warm water. Once all the product is gone, make your water go as cold as it can go and rinse your face ~3-5 times with cold water to close the pores. You don't want your pores to be bigger, that defeats the point of skincare! 

Other important things to note concerning face wash. You know the face washes I listed above? I have multiple because you should vary your routine. Your body adapts to certain products you use, and sometimes they lose their effects. It's the same as when you exercise and your muscles get used to the same workouts so they seem to be getting less effective. I rotate my facewashes so that my skin is always seeing (lol) something new. 

When you dry your face, don't rub it with a towel. Pat it dry. You don't want to irritate your skin. 

Don't wash your face more than 3 times a day. 

 (Masks of the mud/non-sheet variety) 

Lumene Finland - Matt Touch Deep-Cleansing Peat Mask or The FaceShop White Mud Nose Pack or The FaceShope Home Aesthetic Pack - Firming Honey Pack | If you're going to do a mud mask, or any type of non-sheet mask, do it inbetween washing your face and toner. You want your face to be clean, but you also want to clean off any excess product from the mask. 

Don't use a mask more than twice a week. 

 Toner

The FaceShop E'Thyme Balancing toner | After using facewash or a mud mask, if you use one, use a cotton pad and pour some toner on it and wipe your face. 

 (Masks of the sheet variety)

If you're using a sheet mask, use it after toner, as opposed to before. It's basically an emulsion, and you don't want any of this essences to be wiped off by toner, you want it to absorb into your skin - thus doing it after toner. Different masks have different effects, make sure you read the instructions! 

 Emulsion/Moisturizer/Sleeping Hydration Pack

The Faceshop E'Thyme Moisture Lotion or The FaceShop Sleeping Mask - Aqua Drop Pack | The last step of your skin routine should be a moisturizer. You're stripping a lot of oils when you wash your face and using masks, etc. so you want to put some of that hydration back. If my skin is bad, I'll opt for the Aqua Drop pack rather than the E'Thyme Moisure Lotion, which is lighter than the pack. 

After all this, I usually use a lip balm so that my lips are all hydrated for the next morning~ 

As for morning routine, I usually just use facewash and and moisturizer before any makeup.

October Favorites!

lol omg I made a video but then I was like nAH cuz I sounded like a baby but maybe someday I'll actually make a video

wooooh! Let's get started! (Disclaimer: I got lazy with the editing so bear with me) 

I put up a kinda review of this (same product, different color) in a previous post, but I'm putting this in October favorites because since the weather is colder and it's fall, it's more appropriate to wear ~darker colors~, so I really like this shade. 

It's a plum (obviously), but it's not super purple or dark. I've been wearing it a lot recently.

As you'll see in a couple of photos down, I started using foundation and I use this translucent powder to seal it all in. I really like it because I have semi-oily skin and this just mattifies everything. Super awesome.

I'm a super stickler about dry lips. Mine need to be super hydrated all the time. So right after I brush my teeth and before I apply any makeup, I put this bad boy on my lips so that it settles in by the time I put on lipstick/lip product whatever. 

I also do this before I go to sleep so that when I wake up my lips are hydrated. 

I posted this in my previous haul, and it's the gray nail polish I bought from urban outfitters. Tbh I thought that this would be a darker brown/gray, but the straight gray is fine as well. 

As I said earlier, I started using foundation, and I use this one. I actually found this by chance in my house and I was like hmmm I wonder if this is my shade, and, coincidentally, it is. So I use this (almost) daily, if I think that my dark circles are particularly bad or I have mild redness. I don't use concealer. 

Moving on from makeup, I recently rediscovered these pens among my ~stash~ of random shit, and omg I had so much fun drawing with these. I have pictures posted on instagram, if you want to check them out, 1 2 I have more but I didn't upload them. 

This is an all-time favorite, but I'm sticking it in October favorites because I i finally got to start wearing it every day since the weather is colder out~ 

Favorite jacket ever I have a bunch of ootd's with this, 1 2 3 that's only a couple, but tbh I might do a styling post with this jacket? Since it's pretty versatile and I lurve it. 

Finally this scarf finally came to good use!!! It's a dark subtle green that comes off as gray sometimes, and it. has. freaking. pockets. IT'S SO WARM. And convenient. I love it so much. 

I had other random favorites planned, like favorite blogs and stuff, but I'm honestly just. So. Lazy. Sorry ; n ; 

Okay it's 9pm, I'm done LOL. I will be posting a haul post tomorrow and maybe a couple review posts the days after that? I still haven't decided what I'm doing for the whole...read more things. Idk. Suggestions?
