ok i already talked abt this on a different site but i feel lile i would actually get people who care about it here, so let em know if i am just too deltarotted and am reading into where i shouldn’t lol. im copy pasting this from my og post so here:

For context, im talking about the controllers on board 2, specifically when Susie does the controller swapping shenanigans. At the beginning of the board, the controller cords for Susie and Kris are on the left side and crossed at in point, while Ralsei’s is distinctly on the right. The first controller swap happens with Susie and Kris, causing their controller wires to become twined together. The second swap happens after Ralsei tells Susie that they shouldn’t swap controllers, where Susie then pranks Ralsei by swapping his controller with Kris’s character, Susie’s with Ralsei’s character, and Kris’s with Susie’s character. Ralsei, while hesitant, starts to enjoy playing as Kris. The third swap then happens once Susie wants to blow up the bomb room. All of them are now returned to their respective characters, but now instead of Ralsei’s cord seperate from Susie and Kris’s, his cord is intertwined with theirs. It’s such a missable, subtle detail, but the controller cords perfectly symbolize how the fun gang has developed with each other over the respective chapters. In the first chapter, Susie and Kris start out barely knowing each other, but as they go through the Card Kingdom and Cyber World, their bond becomes stronger. But Ralsei still believes himself to be undeserving of friends due to him being a darkner, as is illustrated by the separation between his controller and Kris and Susie’s controllers. So Susie tries to convince Ralsei that he deserves to have friends, that he can have his own wants and likes. And we see this with Ralsei being put into Kris’s character, suddenly being able to control what the group does, even if for a moment. We can also see how Ralsei is becoming more accepting of his own feelings in ch. 4, where he expresses that he has his own wants and desires, but feels as though he doesn’t deserve them (especially highlighted by his very empty bedroom). But we see through Susie’s constant reassurances, Ralsei is slowly becoming convinced that he CAN be his own person, despite being a darkner. And so we come to the final controller swap, where all of the characters are returned to their respective characters. Ralsei has come to accept himself as both being a darkner, and having his own desires, shown by his controller port being back where it was before, but his controller cord is intertwined with Kris and Susie’s cords, showing how their friendship has strengthened. And one could say that im looking too far into it, but come ON, its deltarune. the attention to detail here is IMMACULATE.

Sealing away the Dark is the wrong answer.

The Dark Worlds represent everything the Lightners keep buried away in the backs of their minds. They're the places where characters go, end up confronting the things that haunt them, and moving forward and growing from it.

'Closing all the fountains' is not the Maturity Button. It is not a metaphor for growing up. It is the repress everything and become exactly like your parents who don't know how to deal with the fact that they're divorced / their daughter is gone / their son probably doesn't want to come back from college / their wife is genuinely kinda horrible toward their daughter button.

Making that choice will only lead to the darkness under everything growing and becoming even worse, until there is no option but for it to consume everything.
