every time there's a new fincher project rumor, there's at least 5 assholes demanding mindhunter s3 in increasinsgly unfunny ways. and while I understand the impulse, personally I want mindhunter s3 to never ever happen, bc it will never be as good as the one that's existed in my head for the last 7 years where

it's 1985 in reagan's fbi and everyone is miserable: as predicted in the last season finale, fame has gone to holden's head, he's gone full john douglas, and he's gotten addicted to valium-then-more for his ever increasing anxiety disorder, wendy has turned completely inward having shrunken into the role director gunn wanted for her (quiet and in a locked room alone) and crawled back to the back of the closet, bill is technically in charge of the bsu but it's really run by jim barney and greg, who is definitely gay and figuring it out at the worst time, not in the least because as his catholic little daughters are definitely going to need braces soon, and also the aids thing and his cool lesbian bossfriend becoming jaded just in time for his revelation, and bill has in fact gotten his family back but at the cost of his own sanity, personhood, whatever keeps him alive, and it hasn't even really changed anything because brian's graduated from weird kid to future-school-shooter, mark david chapman jr. they created a terrible weapon, criminal psychological profiling, just in time for it to be yet another profiling weapon in the arsenal of the war on drugs. they're 3.5 oppenheimers (and half a greg) (jim is there too but the writers don't know what to do with him) and hate each other and themselves for it, despite this never rising to the level of text except for when barney quits. and they haven't been a team in years they're all wrong and hate each other now, because something like holden's antics and the richard speck coverup are nothing compared to the corrosive effects of notoriety (as per s2e9), but they end up in each other's orbits because someone's killing women up in washington and dumping them in the green river. and SOMEBODY is on death row in florida and has some thoughts about this. w/ a variety of other interviews and made up cases of the week and plotlines about the horror that is the fbi hierarchy sprinkled throughout ofc
