The finished eco concertina. This has been conceived, designed and made as a 40th birthday present for a green-minded veggie friend. It is a contemporary response to many early concertinas which were made from exotic hardwoods, ivory and leather. It is basically a 20k C/G model, with 2 extra keys providing accidentals on either side. I have seen many Lachenals with this layout. I also added an extra C/C drone, on the LH thumb position, which is more a feature of Crabb/Jeffries style instruments. The fretwork is loosely designed around the sweet chestnut tree, with a pair of corncrakes set in the centre of the left side (it turned out sounding better than this bird, thankfully!) and the owner's initials on the right side. Big thanks to all the materials suppliers out there, and Bob Tedrow for his amazing photo essay: http://hmi.homewood.net/twitterzephyr/
