Last night I spent a while just showing my roommate apricot poodles with black noses and he just kept saying he doesn’t like them as much as Mulder so petition to make AKC change that part of the standard from “serious fault” to “seriously handsome”

I’m still heart eyes over this anon and this dog ahhhhhh. I’ve had this dog in some form of a conti clip like 3? 4 times? And I’ve never liked it as much as this go round. I’ve never been this proud of a groom just LOOK HOW HANDSOME HE IS IM DYING!!!!!!

I have noticed that a lot of the dogblrs I follow/see are lgbt and tbh I think that is very cool and hip of all of us

Me: I am pro out-crossing, pro mixed breeding, and think that the strive for “purity” among purebred dog breeders can create tunnel vision that causes breeds to suffer

That is good to know! Although tbh I think a class pet would just be too much work for us on top of our actual work and I’m glad we let that idea fizzle out. But if things are less crazy sometime and we revisit it I’ll keep them in mind, thanks!

This is why I stick with my “if I can’t tell it’s a fake or if their dog doesn’t interfere with my safety it’s not my problem.” Policy has yet to fail me.

This ^^^^^^^ this right here is exactly what everyone should strive for. And also, if it does interfere, handlers have every right to go to a manager/employee/what have you and report it. I believe I even said that in my post. I’m not against consequences for faking, I’m against berating random people in public on a hunch.

wait hold up, u said u wanted to get more into poodles but the breed was too political? can i ask what's up what happened, what's that mean? i havent been following since the beginning tho i love ur blog, and im getting a poodle in a year or two 😳

Oh I’m sorry, I did not intend to deter anyone from the breed! I still adore them, and Mulder will probably not be my only poodle ever. I simply meant originally I wanted to get into breeding them someday, and have since kinda abandoned the idea. And basically what I meant was exhibition(dog show) breeders can be a bit snobby when it comes to breeding for sports/work, which is what I would breed for. I’ve also noticed a trend of looking down on newbies or people with less experience, but that can usually be said for any breed. The shows themselves can also be very political, with corrective grooming and certain colors/markings are not as popular even if they’re within standard. I wanted to breed well rounded and versatile working/sport poodles, but now think if I were ever to breed it would probably be mixes(and lord help me if I include poodles, poodle breeders DO NOT like doodle breeders typically haha).

And of course, this is all based on what I’ve seen and experienced. And there’s plenty of good poodle breeders out there who aren’t like that. I wish you all the best in getting your poodle, they’re delightful dogs!
