wait hold up, u said u wanted to get more into poodles but the breed was too political? can i ask what's up what happened, what's that mean? i havent been following since the beginning tho i love ur blog, and im getting a poodle in a year or two 😳
Oh I’m sorry, I did not intend to deter anyone from the breed! I still adore them, and Mulder will probably not be my only poodle ever. I simply meant originally I wanted to get into breeding them someday, and have since kinda abandoned the idea. And basically what I meant was exhibition(dog show) breeders can be a bit snobby when it comes to breeding for sports/work, which is what I would breed for. I’ve also noticed a trend of looking down on newbies or people with less experience, but that can usually be said for any breed. The shows themselves can also be very political, with corrective grooming and certain colors/markings are not as popular even if they’re within standard. I wanted to breed well rounded and versatile working/sport poodles, but now think if I were ever to breed it would probably be mixes(and lord help me if I include poodles, poodle breeders DO NOT like doodle breeders typically haha).
And of course, this is all based on what I’ve seen and experienced. And there’s plenty of good poodle breeders out there who aren’t like that. I wish you all the best in getting your poodle, they’re delightful dogs!
