I genuinely don't understand why people hate Flowery
Like, the moment I saw him I was sure he and Ralsei would end up like Tenna and Spamton. And when I say sure I mean 100% sure.
Then I finished chapter 5, and discovered that everyone unanimously decided to hate him and I was. Speechless.
Is it because he's rude to Ralsei? I mean, he is. But it's for Ralsei's own good, and the game is pretty direct in telling you that.
I'm saying this as someone who loves Ralsei with all her heart, and loved them even more after chapter 5: it was DAMN TIME someone told them to ignore the Prophecy and do whatever they liked.
Susie couldn't do that, or at least Ralsei wouldn't have taken her seriously, because she doesn't know anything if not what she read in chapter 4's Dark World.
But Flowery's words, as someone who's (presumably) all knowing like Ralsei, are a lot heavier.
He knows he won't succeed. He knows his Dark World will be closed. He probably even knows he will die.
And he DOESN'T GIVE A FUCK.
He tells Susie about the battle menu and the Shelter code. He sets all his stats to 999. He talks even though you turn his voicelines off.
And the game also tells you that, if they wanted, Ralsei could do that too. But they don't, because they're convinced it will lead to disaster.
They don't like the ending they know, and want to change it. But they're convinced things simply can't change. So they don't even try.
And then Flowery comes, and does all the things Ralsei has always told themself not to do. So Ralsei hates him, envies him. They want to be as carefree as him.
And Flowery knows that. And he also doesn't understand why Ralsei is preventing themself to be like him.
But since kind words and a long serious talk wouldn't work on Ralsei, he just gets on his nerves in every way possible. By doing all the things Ralsei always wanted to do, and showing them that there are no consequences.
And maybe, that way, Ralsei will finally realise that they don't have to be angry at him all the time. They can be as carefree as Flowery.
All they have to do is try.
And maybe, just maybe, if they allow themself to try and do something different, the ending can really be changed.
