So, the Barbie Dream Besties skate dolls are pretty cute! I wasn't wild about the core dolls, but I definitely want to pick up Brooklyn if I see her in-stores. Maybe Teresa too, if her clothing material isn't too bad.

Renee, though... is definitely the weakest of the bunch. She's in desperate need of a restyle, and the way her hair is crimped just doesn't look very flattering to me.

HOWEVER.

I would be a filthy liar if I said her cheese purse wasn't deeply endearing. It goes with absolutely nothing else she comes with, but I love it so much.

I must admit seeing the official Skullector Coraline has taken a lot of my excitement over working on this doll since I spent a lot of time trying to track down accessories and sewing to even finish her and I wasn't really enthused by the time I finished her.

I sewed her jeans and raincoat since I feel like this specific combination of clothes worked well for her tomboy-ish character instead of a dress, and I actually used a knockoff Coraline doll for her sweater to get the right scale pattern and fabric. I actually had to add a panel on her back closure to make it fit but I think this is the definitive Coraline outfit for me.

Her button key and butterfly hairclip are also from a Coraline charm bracelet and I like how they add to her character.

I did intend to add more accessories and pieces but the official doll coming out really dampened my enthuiasm for finishing my custom doll.

Now that it's been confirmed we're getting g3 Elissabat, I'd like to voice my one hope for her. I've seen some amazing fan designs that go in all sorts of directions design-wise, so I ultimately just want one thing from her.

Give her actual glasses that don't just exist for a cheap "LOL she used to be UGLY!!!" gag. Mattel you have let me down horribly with Clawdeen's releases (with "having her glasses" and "being cute" seemingly being mutually exclusive, and them being abandoned entirely in her latest core release >:/), redeem yourself through Elissabat, I'm begging you. She has such potential to look cute and/or slay with them.

oh yeah and her being visually distinct from Draculaura would be nice too

going from something that only existed in my mind to seeing them become full fledged dolls that people can enjoy is so wild. when i was working on this all the way back in december 2023, Ii could have never imagined they'd actually become real dolls one day. ngl this came as a complete surprise to me 😭 however, this is all thanks to the love and support from the fans !! yall manifested this 🩷

An update on Kinoga! I finished making their “canon” pants! It’s so nice to slowly see them look more and more like themself. I have yet to add the little charm on the chain dangle but I will do so when I figure out what to make it out of. I also would like to find a better dark green fabric that’s more durable for the belt, but this is what I had. Hopefully, eventually, I will make their scarf. It has been a fun learning experience trying to figure out how to make clothes for them!
