Furthermore, it was said that anyone who violated this law, would be fined up to 10.000 Reichsmark - a lot of money back in the day, and surely a much higher fine than what anyone has pay for cruelty against animals, nowadays. Germany under National Socialism became a role model for the protection of Animals, in particular, and Nature in general; it was Adolf Hitler himself who said he can’t think of anything more noble than to be a champion for those who can’t defend themselves, and it was in this spirit that animal rights were a high priority on the political agenda of the NSDAP, after taking power in January 1933.
