It's literally illegal for the US to be detaining him, but instead of being outraged, you're buying into the propaganda that portrays him as the one in the wrong, congratulations. Turning immigrants against one another is just another way to deflect actual criticism of the true villian: the system that makes it take so much difficulty and years for people to become citizens.

if you have to reach that far to try and defend someone who has a gun drawn and hidden because they're so scared of a black man sitting and minding his own business, you are part of the problem. There is no story here that could make this ok, even if that man is a criminal, if you are so unable to do your job that your only option is to shoot first, then you shouldn't be a cop.

Edit: now knowing the story makes this even worse. No one who is suicidal should be treated as such an extreme threat, especially when they have a knife and you have a gun. They want to harm themselves, not you, and if you think they're a threat there are a million non fatal ways to work around that.

My straight allies were the only reason that I survived the school year after that summer.

If one house in a neighborhood is on fire, you don’t pour water on every house in the neighborhood, just for the house on fire. You’re effectively ignoring the actual issue here and by doing so, watering down the oppression of lgbt people by trying to insert a false “allies are oppressed too” narrative which completely ignores the context of the issue. Tumblr is not censoring straight sexuality.

I would never claim that allies are oppressed too. What I am saying is simply that allies can often be as important to the lgbtq+ community as those of who identify differently from the straight community. My allies are a part of my pride celebration this month because I am from a rural area with very few people who are out publicly, and because I was forced out of the closet when I was so young it was the allies who stood by me that got me to the proud place that I am in with my sexuality. Essentially, my allies were proud of me and that is why I can celebrate pride month now. So no, straight people are not being censored by this site, but I won’t allow anyone on my dash to censor an allies pride for their lgbtq+ loved ones unchecked (in reference to the ‘shut the fuck up straightie’ comment on this otherwise brilliant post).

But this has nothing to do with allies and making an ally flag (which I'm pretty sure was made by a troll anyway) detracts from the issue. The angry responder had every reason to respond that way. Again, this isn't about pride, this is about a specific issue targeting lgbt people.

It's great that you want to defend allies but there is a time and a place. Context is important and by making this about allies you are detracting from the issue at hand and essentially placing your concern for allies over the outrage that the issue needs. An ally having pride for their LGBTQ+ loved one is not the same as making an issue that is targeting LGBT people about them. What is happening here is the latter. A true ally would be supporting LGBT people in their outrage about this issue, not insisting that straight people need an "my sexuality is not sensitive content" flag when their sexuality is not the one being censored.

I'm responding on the off chance that you're not sealioning (which considering how easy it is to research transphobic tropes, I get the impression that you are) but portraying a crazy killer as a man wearing makeup follows the same kind of transmisogynistic trope as Silence of the Lambs and Psycho. Unfortunately, society sees trans women as crossdressing men and when the portrayal of feminine men, specifically men who dress like women or use makeup, shows them as psychotic murderers, that's not exactly showing trans women in a positive light, is it?

If you'd like more information, I suggest looking into how tropes like this can effect real life cultural opinions and I'd be happy to suggest some resources

Oh, just to pull back the curtain for a moment, Floor 1 of Antifa Tower was meant to satirize people who act the fool when they’re asked to use peoples’ preferred pronouns.

The Enlightened Centrist is partially a parody of the Youtube/Twitter “skeptic/anti-SJW” community (members of which have been known to call themselves “centrist”), and how they see themselves, though I used him as a vehicle to parody other types of edgelords too.
