I do really think despite its inherent unseriousness this show has really been such a great symbolic manifestation of a lot of gerard’s anxieties around the band and fame. like I think if you asked them between 2008 and 2013 what their worst fear was it would be them middle aged pumped full of meds by their corporate handlers until they were numb and mindless enough to churn out a contextually empty black parade performance for someone else’s profit and agenda every few nights

of course the irony of doing This Tour while clearly still having these anxieties is obvious. but I also think they are putting a lot of effort into making it clear this is happening on the band’s own terms and that that in their mind serves to counteract the blatant contradictions
