In order to protect the Humans, some Shadow Creatures volunteered in a “Mate” program.
Where they were placed with a human Mate to protect. In this process the mates souls were bound together, making them Soulmates. The Shadow Creature would feel compelled to protect the Human, and the Human would feel compelled to obey the Shadow Creature, As a matter of protection. The Shadow Creature could often sense when the Human was in trouble or in distress.The Humans are required to live with their protectors, and follow their rules (within reason of course). (Miles is my Character) Miles was fifteen when the wars started. It was chaos. Many humans and shadow creatures lost their lives fighting for each other’s side. Miles’s father was one of them. He was the only family he had so Miles was alone. Alone and scared. The world felt like it was falling apart. When the war ended, it was clear that there were some dangerous Shadow Creatures.. He felt judged as a human and sometimes didn’t feel safe. Only about half the human population survived the war so they were outnumbered. The council decided they needed to protect the remaining Humans. They were taken into the councils’ care before being paired with a soulmate. Miles was scared. He didn’t know what his soulmate would be like or if he/she would actually protect him. Miles is a very soft and shy person. He can be chatty when he opens up but first meeting people he is quiet. Miles cares for people deeply and once you are in his heart he keeps you there forever.

( Ariana is my Character) Ariana is a young witch. Her coven often refers to her as the ‘baby’ of the group. Ari’s parents are both very successful witches within their coven and have been leading it for hundreds of years. Ari has always been amazing with her spells, potions and conjuring.. everything that makes a great witch, however she believe in Humans and Shadows living in harmony. The Murnane’s disapprove of Ari’s radical thinking. During the war Ariana refused to fight the humans, telling her parents she was working behind the scene when she was aiding Humans in need. After the war Ariana heard of the Soulmates program that the Council was doing she signed up right away, behind the coven’s back. Though hurting and hating on the Human’s was illegal, the Coven was not shy about their distaste for them. Ariana is now hiding the fact that she has a soulmate from her family. Ariana is a sweet, kind natured women. She always tried to put other first and didn’t like using magic to always get everything. She enjoys trying to live life and appreciate it all. Ariana can be a little impulsive at times and is not scared to speak her mind.

Though hurting and hating on the Human’s was illegal, the Coven was not shy about their distaste for them. Ariana is now hiding the fact that she has a soulmate from her family. Ariana is a sweet, kind natured women. She always tried to put other first and didn’t like using magic to always get everything. She enjoys trying to live life and appreciate it all. The Shadow Creatures did not wish to hurt any humans but only to live in peace but the humans still declared their war. Five years into the war the Shadow Creatures won. The Humans admitted defeat. The world was no longer how it had been before. Some Shadow Creatures saw themselves as superior and treated the Humans poorly, even attacking and harming them in some cases. In order to protect the Humans, some Shadow Creatures volunteered in a “Mate” program.
Where they were placed with a human Mate to protect. In this process the mates souls were bound together, making them Soulmates. The Shadow Creature would feel compelled to protect the Human, and the Human would feel compelled to obey the Shadow Creature, As a matter of protection. The Shadow Creature could often sense when the Human was in trouble or in distress.The Humans are required to live with their protectors, and follow their rules (within reason of course). Every state has their own Safe House to protect the humans and their mates from the outside and the Shadows that might be violent. (Think American Horror Story Apocalypse Boys Academy House)
