What kind of crime is this? What kind of people are these, stripped of all humanity, becoming more savage than beasts? An Israeli soldier pins down a Palestinian child, no more than sixteen years old, before a tank treads crushes him in cold blood… a scene that sends shivers down the spine and defies description. This is not a mere incident, but a fully-fledged crime, a stain on the conscience of all who remain silent. What kind of law is this that turns a blind eye? What kind of world is this that doesn't hear the cries of the victims? What is happening is nothing but stark evidence of the collapse of values, and that humanity is being slaughtered every day before the eyes of the world. This crime will not be forgotten… and will remain a testament to an era in which justice has been betrayed and conscience has been silenced.
I'm from Gaza… I never sought anything grand; I only dreamed of living a normal life, of walking on my own two feet, of working, of feeding my family with dignity. But the war took away even this simple dream… I lost my leg, and with it, a part of my life, and my hope.
Today, I can only walk with crutches; every step reminds me of what I've lost, and every glance from a child or any human being that passes me wounds me further. I see children being killed, I see homes being destroyed, and I wonder: Is there anything left called humanity?
I used to dream of a prosthetic leg… just a chance to stand again, to walk, to become a human being capable of living again. But even that dream began to fade, with limited resources and a lack of hope. If my words reach you… don't let them pass you by like the others. Perhaps your small help will be the reason I can start anew.
