~ How to Deal With a Negative Reading You’ve Done for Someone Else ~
We all have those readings that we do for other people that just aren’t… positive. Sometimes, they’re downright horrible sounding, and it feels wrong to give the person their reading. Hopefully this post offers some advice for you to use when you do those not-so-pleasant readings.
Draw another card/scry for another thing/etc. with the question “What is something positive that will be coming into their life?” or maybe even “What is a goal/achievement they will accomplish soon?”
This way, you can tack on an “Oh, by the way, there is something positive in this reading. Here’s what I got when I asked___.”
Even if it isn’t super huge or a big deal, it may leave the reading feeling lighter, and give them something to look forward too :)
Remind your querent that the future may or may not be set in stone for this reading, and that the outcome/events could very well change. Explain that as long as they keep a cool head through this and stay on the bright side, everything will turn out okay.Â
You can even offer advice on how to do this. For example, you may want to tell them about some ways you can handle stress, financial loss, etc., very casually. Just slip in a “here’s a nice way to handle what this card/symbol/etc. is saying.”
Try to avoid sounding harsh and speak in a way that makes the bluntness of the card/symbol/etc. easier to take. Saying something like “This card/symbol/etc. isn’t very positive, but know that you can get through whatever it’s referring to” can really help them and make the querent feel better about the challenge they’re looking at. It also provides a bit of support before you dive into dark waters.
Talk to them about their troubles once the reading is finished. Ask if there is anything you might be able to help with, and take their feelings into consideration. I also suggest answering the reading privately if it’s really bad/feels too personal.
If you have personal experience with what they potentially could be facing, say so. Offer ideas for getting through it after you gather more info on the subject. If they don’t wish to talk after the reading, leave them to their thoughts with a kind “Okay, just let me know if you need anything! :)”
Do another reading if you really feel uncomfortable with it. Just draw new cards, and work from there. If it’s still really negative, Follow the other tips I’ve given, and hopefully your querent will be thankful to you for telling them what to prepare for! :)
