How to use a mini drill press
Assembling a mini drill press
1. Before using the mini drill press make yourself acquainted with the drill parts, controls and driving system of the drill press. Some of the parts include pulley-guard, belt tension lock handle, head lock set screws, support table, column support, base, spring cap, depth scale, chuck, switch, feed stoop rod, stop nuts, stop motor, feed handles, bevel scale etc.
2. Install the bolts into the holes through the column support and base and tighten with a wrench.
3. Slide the table or support into the column.
4. Screw and tighten the feed handles into the threaded holes in the hub.
5. Push the chuck as far as possible into spindle nose.
Operation of a mini drill press
1. Make sure the ball bearings are well lubricated by lubricating the grooves in the spindle and teeth of the quill.
2. When installing the drill make sure it is far enough into the chuck so as to obtain a maximum grip. Ensure the drill has entered in the chuck and tighten it well. Turn the chuck key clockwise to tighten the grip.
3. Drilling depth can be controlled by the depth scale pointer or by the stop nuts located on the feed stop rod.
5. your desired position and tighten the support lock. To tilt the table to a desired position loosen the bevel lock. Re-tighten the bevel lock after attaining the position.
6. When you have finished drilling a hole, release the feed handle to allow the spindle sleeve to return to its original place.
7. If you hear any unusual noise or encounter any trouble during operation, immediately stop the motor and determine the cause.
8. After you have finished with the drill press make sure you turn off the power source and remove the chips and dirt on the machine. To prevent rusting of the unpainted surfaces cover them with oil.
