And then Leo its the one who tells Annabel to think of it all as a game, people as paws (Annabel is the queen, but Leo is the king) And later in the afterlife, they are back to the start, but not quite.

I feel so bad for Annabel here. Imagine thinking that you were the center of another person’s world just like they are of yours, and then you see them repeatedly choose other people over you, people that they’ve known for only a week despite being married to you

But then having to find out that the only reason your partner loves you is because they felt lonely and you just happened to be there would break anybody

It means that in Annabel’s eyes, Lenore’s connection with her is nothing special. She’s not the apple of Lenore’s eye like she thought she was, more like one of the apples in the orchard of Lenore’s eye. Even if Lenore reassures Annabel that she still loves her, that kind of thing still hurts a lot and even in episode 144, Annabel is still clearly hurt after their conversation and still feels devalued as a result of it. the cottage fire is PORTRAYED as a very noble thing with her riding off into the night on horseback because LOVE! and then waved off as “maybe arson maybe murder? who knows!!"

her not trusting annabel and making her CRY all the damn time is PORTRAYED as justified on account of annabel not being trustworthy and wanting to use people, and noble in her goal of wanting to save everyone because fighting to save everyone is objectively the GOODEST THING YOU CAN DO?? and all the misfits are all hunky dory goodie two shoes, so why WOULDN'T you want to cheer for it??

her manhandling annabel is PORTRAYED as perfectly justified considering the circumstances of duke on the verge of dying

her calling her a monster is PORTRAYED as perfectly justified in her disappointment

her calling her mad is PORTRAYED as “oopsie daisie” said in anger because she immediately comforts her after and annabel LETS HER

her shoving Annabel off of her and her collapsing because her legs cant hold her because she nearly got KILLED is played for A FUNNY GAG “ooh she got dizzy she's so uwu” because immediately after she is GLARING and portrayed as a THREAT

Montresor is the ONLY ONE consistently calling her out and he's our biggest antagonist and currently manipulating and using two people LOL

why is annabel crying every other panel directly because of LENORE but it's never addressed??? WHEN is Lenore going to cross Annabel's line of tolerance HELLO?? where is Annabel's DOUBT

Annabel has been consistently shown as OBSESSIVE and PUSHY in her actions because Lenore keeps stonewalling her. Because, again, wanting to save everyone is portrayed as THE objectively correct thing to do even though wanting to save themselves and only them is also equally as understandable. But Annabel is constantly shown that she is WRONG, not just by lenore but the NARRATIVE ITSELF. prospero and her friendship. risking herself for Ada. losing her fucking RING. JUST!!??!
