I think what makes it extra bad is that Ariana probably went through a lot of the same shit. Like, it suspends credulity to think she didn't, you know what I'm saying? Especially with the stuff that was in plain sight for Ariana, that literally aired on Victorious. So just for the sake of arguing from a platform of common sense and not having brain lesions, let's assume for a moment that yes, Ariana Grande endured a career with Dan Schneider that is reasonably comparable to the 100% believable claims of Jennette McCurdy. ...okay. I totally get why Ariana never went public this way about her own treatment. I literally do not judge this, I can imagine myself in those shoes and making similar decisions for similar reasons, she's trying to make the suffering worth something without throwing her life to the wolves. But that backstory is... fucking trauma, okay? Like when someone goes through that, especially someone you claim to care about, you should be horrified that it happened to them, and point the finger at the fucker who actually hurt them. Grande's fans don't realize they're throwing their own blorbo under the tour bus here, but they are, and sending a message to Ariana that it's 2022 and she's still not safe to come forward. I grew up with people who talked shit about atheists and queers being the children of the devil - people didn't know what I had brewing under the surface, and they just said that shit openly to my face like I was on the same team. And I wanted acceptance, I wanted to be on their team, so I absorbed a lot of that messaging and grew to hate myself as I slowly realized just how many poisoned labels I actually had on me. It made coming out really difficult and scary, and I've had to come out as a lot of things. So yeah, I do see a parallel here, I see a trauma victim being invalidated by her dipshit fans and buried deeper in the closet, on top of them being just generally spiteful worthless little shits toward McCurdy. And I'm just mad about it. Those are boring words but it's the tired truth of it, y'all.
Abuse apologists are in a race to hell with abusers themselves, and we're all losing by tolerating them.

I didn’t think after all this time I’d need to say it, but:
You should still be leaving Eugenia Cooney alone.
She’ll get treatment when she’s ready. The unfortunate reality is that you can’t force someone into treatment or recovery. It comes from within. Tons of people will get treatment out of obligation and then not follow through, as she’s done. Bullying her, telling her she’s a bad person/influence, blaming her for triggering you, calling her ugly, or demanding she remove herself from the internet in the interim will not help her.
You’re not her savior and I’m sure that’s a hard pill to swallow because so many people just want to see her recover. I want to see her recover. But right now she isn’t, and it’s possible she may never with dire consequences, but it’s not up to random strangers on the internet to hound her about it.
I don’t know, seeing the recent swath of videos about her popping up has really rubbed me the wrong way. They’re unhelpful and unnecessary. Nothing in these videos contributes anything new. It’s all been said.
