I did this a long time ago, in my first term of University in 2012 I think. But it doesn’t read properly! Not at all! I did a bunch of versions, and you couldn’t tell wtf was happening in any of them! You don’t even know what’s going on in it, do you!? This is what happens, a fly is sitting there and gets squashed, it then rejuvenates itself, grows, grows, grows, then jets off to merk the initial squasher! Still cool, but I just couldn’t show it like I wanted to. The problems are that there’s nothing to scale the fly against, so you can’t be sure it’s growing, and I was maybe hung up on the regularity of the panels.

An excerpt from a comic I was doing about Stormzy and myself. I could get more to work on that too btw, but my anger, the initial subject of the comic, has dissipated since then, so I’m less motivated atm. From January of this year, 2016.

More of my exorcism. These are two other cover ideas I tried for Attic, and a cartoon I did with it in mind. Kind of funny I suppose, but not gorgeous. Here is the eventual cover (it was 2015 btw, the 2014 was a major typo (or a super smart joke, idk, I certainly don’t get it)), another Thrift cover effort, and the comic I did that went in there.

As much as I appreciate the fact I went to University and got all this useful critical insight into how the world works (the tl;dr for uni: capitalism (amongst other things..) can kiss it, but it is also sooooo sneaky), I feel like the main thing it did for me is make me a smarter sort of angry at work. (Chill out Mum, I’m being facetious, I’m sure my prospects are fine…)
