Hello, this is Pocket. I'll be posting and reblogging any of my drawings. Maybe not all of it, as I make a lot of garbage doodles with no color on my personal from time to time. I will not draw anything nsfw, suggestive maybe. But anything beyond that goes to another blog entirely.

I've been using a fairly old drawing of Sheila with sunglasses in some kind of Lisa Frank hellscape in the background as my avatar on various socials for a long time and I figure, now that Sheila has an official new design in 2026, it's time to make a new avatar, this one less Lisa Frank more 80's 90's Californian, because that's my jam.

Who's that little man looking up at her? I don't know. I made him up on the spot, but he's inspired by the Tamagotchi characters, Mametchi, and Maskutchi. Mametchi, because I gave Sheila a pixelated Mametchi as a pet in my Tomodachi Life game, and Maskutchi because he's my favorite. Is he canon? I don't know, maybe. I like him.

I've been tweaking Sheila's design endlessly since I created her. Getting close to a look i'm okay with.

My Mii version of Sheila in Tomodachi Life has convinced me that she looks good with nostrils, and I thought a lil nose bump would look cute. She was partially inspired by Wendy O Koopa and other Mario style characters, so having a little nose like Wendy kind of takes her back to her inspiration a bit more.

The only thing i'm really still struggling with is her body proportions. I never really stay satisfied with her body shape for too long.

Sydney is there since the change would effect him too.

I recently started watching Amphibia. Even though I'm obsessed with frogs and toads and all manner of reptiles amphibians and bugs, I slept on this cartoon until now, and I am totally kicking my own ass for waiting so long because holy shit, I'm obsessed, I haven't enjoyed a cartoon this much since Gravity Falls. I was working on this the past few days, starting with just Sprig and Polly, then added Hop Pop, and today I finished the first season, so I added Ann and finished it up.

Today I learned Charlie Brown is canonically, not actually bald with one hair in the front and two in the back. He's just stylistically drawn that way. He was intended to be blonde, with a buzz cut so fine that it looks almost transparent like peach fuzz.

I thought i'd draw how I would interpret that since I didn't know this for my last Peanuts group pic.... it feels almost wrong but I like it so much better that this may be how I draw him from now on, not that I plan to draw a ton of Peanuts art after this, lol. Might even go back and edit the old art.

Peanuts - Featuring Good Ol' Charlie Brown

Ever since I discovered the 2014 Peanuts shorts on youtube, which seem to be direct 1:1 adaptations of a bunch of comic strips, I've been on a huge Peanuts kick, I love it, the humor reminds me a lot of what I enjoyed from Azumanga Daioh.

So here's another bunch of characters in my style again, well, mostly my style, there's some things about the Peanuts style I didn't want to be rid of since it's part of what makes them recognizable.

I don't like the whole "Bald with whispy hairs" look so I looked at the 2015 film for inspiration on how to adapt the likes of Linus, Rerun, and Pigpen, who seem to have more filled in hair in that movie.

I actually had a lot of fun drawing them and I could have kept going but it was already over crowded and I hit most of the iconic characters anyway, I don't think making this even bigger would have been worth it just to squeeze in Crybaby Boobie.

Around February of last year I made a bunch of "fact" infographics about several of my OCs, but I never made one about my main guy, the apple of my eye, my fave, Shino. Well more than a year later, here it finally is.

His Species name is "Natran" which is just my stupid way of trying to make "Elf" more original.

When his kind dies without having children, a tree grows from their remains, and a child is usually inside that tree, waiting to be born. This is why he gets homesick when he's far from home for too long, the tree is quite literally his mother. He is unaware of this, and knows little about his own kind.

He was found in the woods as a feral child, foraging for berries, and adopted by the woman who found him. This is why he has a kinship with Eko, who herself was a feral child.

He hates haircuts and will let his hair grow until he cannot keep it out of his eyes any longer before cutting it, and will sulk for a few days after.

His ears are extremely sensitive to both loud sound and to touch.

His name was completely picked at random with no thought

In the very first incarnation of Pocket Arsenal, which was just a series of Little Big Planet levels, he was not the protagonist, he was merely a guy that would explain the rules of short challenge courses between larger levels.

Cartoon boys and the girls that cause them pain.

A couple of cartoon siblings ( plus one poser ) and a goup of dot eyed kids. Trying to draw cartoon characters I have rarely, if ever, drawn, and adapting them to my style, is very fun, I'd like to do more.

I feel if Tatanga appears again, he'd need a redesign unlike the other Super Mario Land enemies/characters. Like his lack of clothes outside of shoes makes him look rather bland, I feel.

I think the manga design was pretty good and could be a good source of inspiration, I liked the belt insignia and the frill, it reminded me of Pilaf.

The Valiant comics design wasn't bad either, especially with the black uniform. I doubt they'd do it, but I think it'd be funny if Tatanga appeared really tall and buff at first, but his large body was actually a mecha suit he was wearing and his real body was as tiny as it was in Mario Land II!

I think him being kind of plain looking is kind of the point, he's in this big imposing war machine but it's really just a little guy.

Then again, we only see him for a very brief second outside the machine in Super Mario Land 2, so it's not like his design outside of the machine is even solidified.

While he is rather plain, if he does get a redesign, I don't think it needs to be anything too drastic, there's plenty of Mario characters that are rather plain to look at and still manage to be charming.

Were I to redesign him, this is how I would do it.

Keeps the basic boots, green eyes and the red gem give him a splash of color, and I think the black cape that he had in a few manga looks nice.

The belt seems pointless but I think it breaks up the plain looking torso a bit, plus I considered having some kind of laser blaster in a holster. I think if the shroobs can have one, it shouldn't be a problem for him.

I colored that sketch of Yoshi. I may end up doing that for some of the sketches I make... they won't always be colored that quickly after drawing it, this is just an example, and I felt like coloring it.

You may notice this is a redraw of one of Yoshi's 3D renders. But I used his 2D artwork for reference. That might be something I use as a running theme for these character sketches.

I famously hate Yoshi's 3D renders, but love how he looks in 2D. Yoshi was my favorite character back in the early 90's but I never really liked how he looked in 3D, outside of maybe Super Mario 64. He's gotten better in recent games, but he still needs work. Really hoping he gets the same treatment as Donkey Kong in the Switch 2 Mario Kart and gets an overhaul to look more like classic Yoshi.

I made a new banner for the blog. I wanted to include some non-Digimon or Tamagotchi virtual pet characters but didn't want to crowd it too much.

More often than not I'll just leave my Tamagotchi in their default outfit, I'm not a big fan of playing dress up and just like seeing the characters in their most recognizable state, but idk, I really like this look for Memetchi.

New avatar, figured i've been using the official Digimon Logo long enough and I should make my own logo.

Feat Maskutchi from Tamagotchi, Betamon from Digimon, and the Pixel Puppy from GigaPets.

Thought process was "I'll start with Maskutchi because he's one of my faves... I didn't choose Mametchi, so I won't draw Agumon, i'll draw his overshadowed child stage counterpart... For Gigapetes, my fave is the Frog but Betamon looks like a frog. I like the T-Rex but people would mistake it for Agumon. Well, Dogs are pretty universal pets. More than 3 would be too cluttered for an avatar so that is all."

This should also better communicate that i'm not just a Digimon blog.

Now I just need to design a new banner.. maybe wallpaper but I really like my current wallpaper.

I was watching a streamer playing a bunch of the Tamgotchi video games. They were talking about the roster of the vintage era Tamagotchis and how they're nothing like what you see on more modern devices, said Mametchi is there as usual but he had a "fat Pikachu" kind of thing going on... I see it now.

You know, I didn't like Mametchi at all when I was a kid ( a kid who dropped out before the Connections even released and so all I knew about him was "High IQ" thanks to the tag on the Cybies doll ) but I think after getting back into the series he's a big fave.

I was originally intending to redraw a meme that involved a grey alien doll that looked high as a kite, but I hate drawing backgrounds. So I just opted to draw a cute Zatchi waking up out of a sleep after noticing his absence on the cakeworthy blanket... it does still kind of give the "Limmy waking up" vibe though, huh?

I love this guy, always wondered what his deal was when I unlocked him by pure dumb lock on my gen 2 tama in the 90's. Come to find out he's a very obscure tama, but I hope he returns on a new virtual pet some day.

Something I have chipped away at for the past several sleepless nights.

I think it's great that Tamagotchi and Digimon have endured over the years as the most popular virtual pets but Gigapets deserves more recognition for being a solid second place in the 90's, and for having great reboot in the 2010's, it may hae been rough at first but it's been one of my favorite virtual pet lines once they dropped the "AR" features and made pets with better battery life.

They've been doing fantastic remakes of their original pets that run circles around what Bandai did for it's Tamagotchi remake, all while still putting out new devices.

My personal history with Gigapets is very short, I had a Digital Doggie as a kid, but I lost it in a matter of days.

I think i've fit every modern Gigapet on here, I hope they do more remakes and I look forward to what new devices they put out in the future. I'm really crossing my fingers for a bat.
