they’re going out of their way to show that mel needs the same accommodations her sister does. they’re both picky eaters, they both need earplugs, they both ask questions/make statements about their perceptions of other people’s emotions that would be considered impolite.

the focus on the female characters this episode. dana taking care of the female sa patient, despite what seems to be some kind of personal history that might be triggering her. the female advocate and emma being there to support the survivor too. the reveal that baran was likely a survivor of a terrorist attack that specifically targeted mothers, women. trinity taking care of baby jane doe. the reveal about trinity's struggles with sh. samira's empathy, her intelligence, her level head, her drive to fix a broken system, at the forefront of the entire episode. mel's gentle and steady leadership when she can tell something is wrong with langdon. joy refusing to be talked over or out-performed. cassie ensuring the wishes of her female cancer patient aren't superseded by her husband's desires. princess taking on a leadership role at a second's notice. parker sleeping at the hospital because she gives this job everything she has and more. victoria feeling, and maybe actually being, out of control of her future, trying to be a good daughter for her parents. wow. wow wow wow this episode is so dear to me.

So, I think it's pretty well established in the Six of Crow fandom that Kaz and Wylan are parallels, but one parallel I haven't seen a huge amount of discussion about is how both of their disabilities impact how well they can do their role is the social class they're supposed to be in. With Wylan, he's a Merch, he's supposed to be able to sign documents and do paperwork to maintain and add to his wealth, and his inability to read makes that harder for him. With Kaz, he's supposed to be a working class farm boy. Obviously he isn't one, but that's where the Merches and politicians who uphold this capitalist system Kerch is based on would want him to be. And being a farmer would require hard labour which he would find more difficult due to his limp. Basically, Wylan and Kaz both cannot fully slot into this rigid capitalistic class system the way the people who designed it intended due to their disabilities, another way that they're actually more similar than the seem on a surface level.
