This is meant to be a “before” snapshot of the characters. Before the story, before their character arcs, etc.
1. A little-known talent of your OC?
She can fix anything. Only her closest friends know how talented she is with machinery, carpentry, and technology, and it's what she's most proud of
2. What trait does your OC like best about themselves? (Eyes, guitar skills, random bird facts, etc)
She loves her hair. She likes that she can change it to reflect who she is and that it represents her before anything else.
3. How many pillows does your OC sleep with?
One. She feels like she only needs one and is too reckless of a sleeper to have more than one anyway. When other characters find out she only has one pillow, and are generally outraged, she usually responds, "pillows are meant for your HEAD. I only have ONE HEAD."
4. Is your OC good at keeping secrets?
She's the best. Hailey has so many secrets herself that she knows the importance of keeping one.
5. Your OC's worst habit?
She bites her nails and picks at her nail polish.
6. Does your OC prefer tennis shoes/sneakers or flip flops?
Tennis shoes similar to converse or vans style. She thinks closed-toe shoes are the most practical and like the simplicity of a basic design.
7. What is your OC's opinion on body modifications?
She loves to support others to be themselves and "stick it to the man." She has a double helix piercing on her right ear and wants some sort of facial piercing (just one), but she's a little nervous to get it.
8. Your OC is given a full-ride scholarship to any college they could want to go to. Where do they go and what do they major in?
*No colleges in The Novel, but I'll go with it.* She'd go to MIT and double major in Mechanical and Environmental Engineering. She's smart and likes to learn about what she's passionate about.
9. What chore does your OC hate the most?
Laundry. Mostly folding it. And then all of her clean clothes get confused with her dirty clothes and she doesn't know what needs to be washed and what's already clean, and "it's just this whole thing, okay?"
10. Would your OC prefer to live in the city, the suburbs, or the country?
The country, somewhere away from all the hustle and bustle where she can connect with nature. She also generally likes to be left alone when it comes to strangers, so she'd want to be as far away as possible from any friendly neighbors.
11. Is your OC a blanket hog?
Not really. If she's sharing a blanket with someone, she's way too aware of their presence and will share. She will steal them on purpose while she's fully awake and claim, "oh, I must've gotten really cold in my sleep" if she's mad at the other person.
12. Would your OC play by the rules in a fight or take cheap shots?
Depends. If she was in more of a "friendly" fight or was fighting someone she knew she could beat, she'd play by the rules. If she was fighting out of anger and hatred, or the other person took a cheap shot first, all bets would be off.

Something really random that she'd get ridiculously excited over. She doesn't really care much for getting presents, so she'd offhandedly say, "I don't know, just like a get me a cute hat or something." When she actually gets it from her friends (who know her style really well), it'll be perfect and she'll love it and wear it until its unwearable.
15. Something that grosses your OC out?
Open wounds. Bodies moving in weird ways (broken bones, double joints). She always to help just fine in a dire situation, but if someone just shows her to be like "check this out," she'd gag.
16. Your OC is suddenly on an adventure! Where do they go and what do they do?
She just straight up chooses a direction and starts walking (likely toward the mountains). She has no real plan other than seeing what she can see and finding whatever she can find. If she comes across a particularly beautiful place, she'll sit there for hours.
17. Is there a real person that looks like your OC?
The original Hailey was loosely based on me, but she has evolved far past that. So, no, not really (that I know of at least).
18. Something that makes your OC laugh without fail?
Jacob being a dumbass in general. Jacob dramatically rocking out on his guitar and falls off of his chair? Jacob being generally outraged that Hailey only sleeps with one pillow? Jacob trying to tell a joke but laughing so hard that he can't finish it? Hailey just thinks he's stupidly funny.
19. Something that makes your OC cry without fail?
Hailey doesn't really cry all that much. She definitely doesn't cry in public or around people she doesn't know very well. She'll only cry around her friends or when she's by herself. The thing that that always upsets her is coming down or being forced down from an emotional high. It often happens when she's spent an entire weekend outside the city having fun with her friends, and then realizing she has to go back. She gets quite upset and just wants to stay where she is. Well, that's sad, so something lighter, she always happy cries when she gets to hold a puppy.
20. An obscure/ridiculous fear your OC has?
Things jumping out at her. When exploring abandon places, she is annoyingly careful going around corners or opening doors. if she's really afraid that there's something/someone behind a door, she'll open it and jump back. If you jump out at her to scare her, she'll probably instinctively punch you and then run in the other direction before realizing that it's alright. She hates when birds or bugs unexpectedly fly at her.
21. Does your OC have any type of disability, whether it be mental, physical, etc?
22. Does your OC get frustrated when people forget to close the door behind themselves?
No, she's the one that does it lol. Even is she asks someone to close the door behind them and they don't, she either won't notice or be like, "meh, whatever."
23. What is your OC's first memory?
When she first asked what a collector is and what they do. She was six years old and after a collector walked by their house, she asked her caregiver, "what is a collector?" He explained that they were the protectors and rule setters of the city, of their society. She remembers it in very vivid detail.
24. Something you like that your OC would hate?
Baking. Personally, I like baking, but Hailey would think that it's too tedious. She doesn't mind cooking things that have more subjective recipes, but baking requires exact measurements.
25. Your OC is going into battle/on a mission! What song is their anthem?
Everywhere I Go by New Politics.
26. Does your OC have good or bad posture?
Hailey has absolute shit posture. She can't even sit in a chair properly.
27. The most despicable thing your OC has ever done?
She lied and tricked someone into taking the fall on something she did. The first time she felt really guilty, but after that, it got easier.
28. Is your OC a conspiracy theorist?
Sort of. She's very skeptical of her society and city and what the true intentions/purpose of them are. Other than that, not so much, though.
29. Someone does something awful in front of your OC. How do they handle it?
She minds her own damn business.
30. What is your OC's favorite drink?
She's a slut for apple juice.
31. Does your OC prefer to sleep in a warm or cool area?
Cooler. She loves to sleep with the window open and let some cool, night air in. In the winter, she'll bundle up in layers of blankets, and in the summer she'll usually sleep with just a sheet.
32. Would your OC like you if they met you?
I think it would be complicated. We wouldn't be best friends, but I think she could come to trust me.
33. A song that reminds you of your OC?
Over & Over by Smallpools.
34. Is your OC a nail biter?
Yeah, a really bad one, too.
35. What is your OC's favorite quote?
Before doing something stupid, she'll often say, "witness me!" because she saw it on a Mad Max bumper sticker once.
36. Your OC's favorite fashion era? (20's, 70's, etc)
*In The Novel universe they don't know about these but I'll answer as if they did.* She'd love 90's grunge. She loves ripped jeans and flannels, so she'd fit right in.

She couldn't give less of a fuck. She hasn't checked the mail in weeks.
38. Random thunderstorm! How does your OC react?
She goes outside and gets soaked but you've never seen her so happy.
39. A strange talent of your OC?
She can mimic bird calls pretty well.
40. Assuming your OC doesn't have them already, what superpower would they want? If they do already, would they change it, keep it, or get rid of it?
Regeneration (think Deadpool). Then she could do more reckless things without having to consider the danger involved.

She loves puns. She makes them in serious situations to deflect feelings. It can be really awkward for other people.
42. What kind of shampoo does your OC use?
Something very basic that smells faintly of vanilla.
43. Your OC wakes up with a coin super glued to their forehead. How do they react?
"Fucking Thomas." and then she'd storm off, the coin still on glued on, and beat up Thomas until he agreed to get it off of her.
44. Can your OC sleep if there's any kind of light?
Hailey can sleep anywhere at any time. She's a sleeping pro.
45. What kind of self-esteem does your OC have?
Around others, she's the badest bitch in the room with a 200% positive self-esteem. Around just her close friends, like 75% feeling slightly more vulnerable. Alone, maybe like 50% self-esteem.
46. A word that your OC can't stand?
As someone who hates open wounds, she would also hate the word "fester."
47. Does your OC fold their clothes, hang them up, or just leave them in the basket/dryer?
She keeps them in the basket until she realizes she needs the basket and then dumps them on the floor in the corner of her room. Then she goes searching in the pile for what she wants to wear and throws clothes across the room looking for that one specific item. At this point, her clothes are strewn all across her room. She hardly knows what's clean and what's dirty anymore.
48. Would society call your OC a good guy or a bad guy? What would they say they are?
Society would call her a bad guy. A rebel who wants to wreck up their society. They tell others to steer clear of her and her shenanigans. She also calls herself a rebel, but in a positive light. She's liberated of an oppressive society and she's not afraid of new things.
49. Your OC's most prized possession?
A twine-like bracelet that Jacob gave to her when they first met.
50. What is your OC's happy place?
An overlook at the top of the first foothill. She can see the entire abandon city, her city, and miles of plains in every direction. It's where she goes to be alone and to think.
