30. it's getting dark
through the field i weave my path
call into the woods to let them know
the soulless beings trapped beneath the trees
it's getting dark i whisper into
the cold evening
as an invitation or a threat.

inversion.
sometimes i turn myself inside out
to prove that there's still some light behind a face of stone.
28. only an illusion
your silhouette against the morning sun
i know you've stopped being the monster under my bed long ago
instead you choose the early morning hours to keep me company
until you dissolve into a brighter day.
27. the astronaut
when i was little i dreamed of floating among the stars
now i know that the space between them is cold and cruel
but i can still step outside at night and watch them
from afar.
26. night out
trapped between vibrating lights the night holds me captive
and i don't mind as long as
it sets me free again in the morning.
25. computer
it's not real they say and mean a foreign world behind the screen
you're wasting time they say and see clear blue light that shines on me
you need to feel they're yelling then real emotions now again
it's a true crime you live like this? it there nothing that you miss?
a dead world behind a screen --- or so it does seem
but one thing that they fail to see on every end, every screen there's people ---
living, breathing just like me.
24. crystal
it's a quiet place down by the lake
where my thoughts become just like the water
shallow and crystal clear.
23. blink and you'll miss it
you blink once you miss a breath
blink twice you miss a sunset
blink three times and you'll miss a world falling apart.
22. intimacy
my fingertips on your skin
i wish
i could be as soft
and gentle
as i am within my words.
21. dew
i'm placing a shimmering morning in the grass
it trickles from my finger- tips
i hope
the day will be as sweet.
20. trying to be good
there's only so much space for kindness inside this somber heart.
only so many hours to numb the pain.
vanity.
mirror, mirror on the wall
save me from this sudden fall.
act of creation.
sometimes i create life using nothing more than letters
with every line i hear my creatures breathe.
garden.
once i dreamed i walked through a garden full of fire
i too planted a spark and watched it grow.
fire.
what if i told you i wanted to walk with the fire
join it into the woods where my mind has been living for
years already.
something very gentle.
and after all the bitterness they feed you
a spoonful of care.
a gentle hand on your shoulder some fingers in your hair a leather-gloved brush along your cheekbones
is all it takes to make you melt back into their cruel arms.
taxidermy.
sometimes i talk to the stag's head on the wall
for these dull eyes have seen the woods long before i've been born
and they know secrets deeper than mine.
