I think I can probably guess your answer but should I read Elric, and if so do you have any advice going in

HEHE I think you should, if you like some pulpy fantasy. Elric can get pretty melodramatic and a fair bit heady as Moorcock gets into his bigger cosmology junk, but as far as Moorcock heroes go, Elric is the tamest in that regard imo.

Fairly recently (three or four years ago now I think) all the Elric stories were published in three volumes with all of Moorcocks original writing (there were some stories that were subject to publisher interference back in the day), so that's probably the best way to go about reading all of them, but honestly if you can get your hands on some of the old paperbacks, they're a lot less daunting. If you want a story to start with, I'd say Weird of the White Wolf gives you a good taste of what Elric is like at his best! (Plus it has just such a splendid cover)
