Let’s try this again.

I’m mad, frustrated, angry, and disappointed. This is/was my baby. It’s tough not seeing it grow up or make it to it’s 4th destination.

So, the 2nd Point Shoot Ship camera has been in limbo for far too long. It’s unexceptable. It’s been “lost” by USPS twice heading to Joe’s place. Which I find hard to believe personally.

I’m mad we lost the photos Kathryn and Nick took while in Australia earlier this year. I’m angry that we won’t get to see what this camera could have come up with. I’m frustrated by incompetence. Mostly I’m disappointed no one was honest with me.

Yesterday I headed down to my local post office and fired off the camera to Joe before he heads to Chile with his son, Maceo for a once in a lifetime opportunity to learn to walk. You should help out and donate to these wonderful people. Stand With Maceo!

An update about Point Shoot Ship!

Wow, it's certainly been a while. A couple months. Heck, maybe a little more. Life's been a little nuts over the last few months. Which is no excuse for not posting anything on Point Shoot Ship, but you know I'm also lazy sometimes. 

In the last few months I've been working at least 1-2 music festivals, plus concerts, plus my regular job. My nights are filled with editing, writing, and working on my website rocktographer.ca. Hard work is starting to pay off though, and I'm starting to see serious results from it.

Where is the second camera? Good question. It left Australia a long time ago. It got to North Carolina, and the person who had the camera "shipped it." That was like two months ago, and since then they've moved. They told me the camera has been sitting in Tennessee for a while, and that they are having it shipped back to their new address so they can ship it to Joe in LA. I hope this happens fast. The camera has been "in transit" for far too long. 

Yes, Point Shoot Ship is still very much a thing, but ball drops, and shipping tend to get in the way a lot. I haven't really had an update to give about the whole situation until lately. It was only earlier this week where I found out any of this. Hopefully the camera reaches you soon. I was honestly considering just sending out a new camera to those folks who haven't gotten it yet. 

On the photo's that haven't been posted yet. That's totally 100% my bad. I scanned all the photos, but deleted them all, because I do that sometimes. Now I can't find the originals, but I have the negatives. I'm planning on heading to the shop this weekend to get them reprinted. All the photos even the ones that didn't turn out. 

There you go, that's the update. Hoping to get this train back on the rails shortly.

Kat is one of my best buds and I was really stoked she got to participate in this project. We've been trying to figure out a project to work on together for a while, but still haven't really come up with anything. In the meantime I guess her taking pictures of her friend's butts is okay. "It's crazy how hard it is to decide what's worthy of a photo you can't just delete. Anyways, I decided to pick two places in my neighbourhood that represent my childhood in Victoria and my triumphant return as an adult. 1. Summit Park rock climbing. 2. Logan's Pub."

Photo by Michelle Edwards "I guess the theme of my photos is that plans change. The first photo was supposed to be of an awesome playground I used to go to as a kid. When I got there, everything was fenced off and being repainted.  My backup plan was to get some photos at Botanical Beach. You know, nature being cool and stuff. Unfortunately, work screwed stuff up that plan and now I get no free time ever. I ended up retracing a route my family used to drive every Sunday when we first moved to Victoria. The family made a sudden decision to move to the coast from Alberta after my father lost his job. I quickly fell in love with the scenery and the ocean and I became super obsessed with whales. I don't think I could ever leave this place now.  I guess sometimes a change of plans can be a good thing."

Over the last year I've been blessed to meet some rad people on the internet. Joe is one of those guys. If you don't know him you should. He has an amazing cassette label called Spring Break Tapes! You should check out the stuff he's been putting out like The Movies, Nurture, Junior Pande, and Ali Helnwein. It's been an honour to have him contribute to this little art project I put together over night last October. Joe is also part of Camera two so you can look forward to more of his photos in the future.

Point Shoot Success!

Today I met up with Kat to get the camera, and hit up my local 1 hour photo. 

I’m totally moved that so many people came together to make this project possible, and I hope you’ll participate in future versions of the project. 

Thank you for your many kind words in the notebook that I sent along with the camera. I’d love to publish some of those entries on here. If you have any issues with that shoot me a message, and I’ll make sure you are excluded. 

On a slightly sad side of Point Shoot Ship news I regret to tell you not all of the photos turned out. Turns out point and shoot cameras don’t work all that well at night or indoors when there are no lights on. (PSS Camera #2 participants take note of this). I’ll try to post everything, but some of the photos aren’t salvageable.

Most importantly, THANK YOU!

Without you this wouldn’t have happened. I’m so happy that all of you came together to help me make this idea a reality. You are amazing people.

PSS Camera Two: Update #2

While I was on vacation last week I received some confirmation form Ashton that indeed the second Point Shoot Ship camera had made the journey from Sydney, Australia to North Carolina.

I wanted to update earlier, but I had completely forgotten until today. I was a little busy with adjusting to normal life and editing photos from my vacation.

YES! The camera has made it to it's final destination. I got a text this morning from Kat saying she received the camera, and plans on getting it to me at some point this weekend.  Also things smell like perfume.

PSS Camera Two: Update #1

Both Kathryn and Nick have taken their photos while on vacation in Australia, and the camera has been mailed to North Carolina. I'm excited to see this multi-continent adventure unfold.  Remember #PointShootShip when you post about the camera that way we here at the PSS Headquarters can keep track of the camera's progress.

Point Shoot Ship Camera Two and Three

Okay, I kind of jumped the gun and didn’t really announce that I was doing a second camera so soon. I was actually planning on sending out the camera after I saw how the first set of photos turned out. 

There was a bit of an opportunity to send the camera to Australia with a couple friends while they are on vacation. Why not get another continent on there?

The sad news is that just from tweeting and instagramming about sending out the camera I filled up all available spots for the Point Shoot Ship Camera Two in the 3 hours before driving my friends to the airport. It was kind of amazing. 

With that in mind I’m doing Camera Three shortly. Probably in about three weeks before I head off to California. If you’d like to sign up, please leave your name and mailing address here. I’ll make sure to get you on the next available space. 

Camera Two is heading to Australia, New York, LA, North Carolina, Halifax, Victoria, Edmonton, and many other exciting destinations.

PSS Camera One: Update #14

As another season approaches and the weather in Victoria finally turns from rain to sunshine the 1st Point Shoot Ship camera is finally in the home stretch. It’s been a long time, but we are excited to see the final project.

I got confirmation from Lauren that today she received the camera. I’m super excited to hear that. Although it would have been slightly cooler if she got it before heading to Mexico. 

So, that means there are two people left.
