My work explores the tension between time, anxiety, and identity, reflecting the overwhelming feeling of never getting anything done. Procrastination turns into paralysis, stress manifests physically, and my mind cycles through knowing I need to do things but never getting myself to get up and do them. Alongside mental health, my work delves into relationships with my body, and the rituals that define my sense of self. Clothing that no longer fits, shifting eating habits, and daily routines all become markers of change, reflecting how I see myself at different points in time. Small comforts, like the steady presence of my cat ground me, while reconnecting with my cultural roots adds another layer to my evolving uniqueness. Each print is a snapshot of a specific moment—some filled with clarity, others tangled in uncertainty. Symbols and patterns emerge across my work, creating a visual language that ties different phases of my life together.
The use of intaglio printmaking as a technique in my work allows me to achieve a high level of detail and tonal variation. The process itself demands patience, precision, and commitment, all things I struggle with in my daily life. Aquatint allows me to create softer gradients and depth, giving my prints a tonal range that feels rich and atmospheric. There’s something about working with metal, ink, and pressure that makes every decision feel permanent, yet the process also allows room for unpredictability and change. Unlike drawing or painting, printmaking forces me to slow down, plan ahead, and trust the outcome, even when I feel like I have no control.
