genuinely so upset that i never wrote a full post of Comic Con Paris 2011. i eagerly went to my archive to find one and instead i found a post saying that i’d accidentally lost the post that i’d written and couldn’t be bothered to write another one. so upset. tumblr, i’ve been back on you merely hours and i’ve already had about 3 emotional space jumps. y u do dis tumblr. i swear i’d written a really long thing about Colin Morgan’s eyes and how devastatingly blue they are IRL. oh well, back to good old fashioned RAM (the brain memories).

So this is interesting. First time I saw this I was like huh, yeah, makes sense, good for you Tom. But now I’m thinking, not everyone who *would* be good at Ancient Greek had the opportunity to study it, not everyone who would be good even knows it’s a thing you can study. Classics is notoriously inaccessible, and actually, pretty straightforward - as far as Humanities go as long as you’re interested in it (it’s broad, you can specialise, it’s old so there’s so much literature). But here’s the thing, Tom knew he was good at acting, so why didn’t he study that straight off? He also happened to be good at acting. Acting isn’t academic but he did enough acting at Eton to know it was a viable study/career path - he got an agent in his first university term for Christ’s sake. BUT, you can’t STUDY acting at Cambridge. I don’t know, it doesn’t matter at all but, even though it’s completely within his rights to tell whatever story about his life he wants to (and I’m just a person speculating about someone I don’t know) this feels like a reductionist view of his circumstances. I hope it’s not this simple in his head, even if it was at the time (which is telling in itself). Very few people have the opportunity to just happen to be good at reading Ancient Greek, and you can’t study running at university. I guess what I want to know is why he didn’t study acting straight away. Anyway, this post has little point. Look at Hiddleston’s face and scowl at Taylor Swift’s existence.
